I just ditched cable and need a hand from the experts getting OTA. I have done some research, but still not 100% sure on what all I need to get this working. Here is my chart from tvfool:
I plan on mounting the antenna in the attic if possible. If I just go for the channels to the east should I use a directional antenna to reduce mutlipath noise? I thought I read somewhere you could use one if they are within 20*.
Looks like a need a medium range antenna based on the reports. Any recommendations on the type? Should it be UHF only or does it matter?
(Edit: Did some more research. Based on the chart it looks like I need Hi-VHF to get WESH-DT for Fox.)
Will something like the Winegard HD-1080 2-Bay Bowtie be ok? (Some reviews said Hi-VHF was useless) Maybe the Winegard HD7694P would be better?
(Edit: My tv has a ATSC tuner so I should be good to directly connect?)
Also, looks like I need a converter box to hook to my Vizio XVT553SV. Any recommendations? Are any made with HDMI out, so I can use existing wiring in my attic? I can always run some composite cables if necessary.
Thanks for the help. I did quite a bit of research, but new to this and don't want to waste money.Edited by stealth71 - 3/29/13 at 2:00pm
