CBS has 3 HD trucks according to my estimation.

One was covering the US Open this weekend.

One did the MIA-TEN game that was rescheduled on Saturday.

And one did the OAK-PIT game.

JAX-BUF was not scheduled for HD according to the CBS Sports website:

I told them on the "other" thread. Time to come back home to BHN.

BHN Homecoming time will be when BHN has some decent hardware to make it worthwhile. Get an HD Tivo and we'll talk. (And no, the SA and Motorola boxes are not good enough.)

I've noticed that there is a Fox network logo within the bottom of the right light gray bar. Could that be a sign that the Fox splicer is working once again b/c I've never noticed a Fox bug down there before.

I guess we'll find out once "North Shore" starts tonight.
Yep, I'm seeing that bug down there in the lower right as well. Hopefully this is a good sign.

So when does Fox start broadcasting their primetime network programming in HD? I notice, for example, that "North Shore" is scheduled for tonight at 8PM; should we expect to see this in HD assuming WOFL's splicer is in fact back up?
Does the bug "overscan" outside of the right hand screen for anyone or is this just for me? Will have to get into the setup again, but thought I should check with you guys (I am running through BHN, but should be no difference).

Thanks

Its just you. It's fully on screen for me.

"North Shore" isn't in HD or even WS so I'm assuming their splicer isn't back online or the WOFL guys are just retarded.

Why isn't "The Benefactor" in HD on WFTV-DT?

Marc posted in another thread on this very forum that it would be the first reality show in HD.
You would think that The benefactor would be in HD for sure knowing Mark Cuban's involvement with HD Net and HD programming. How ironic.

The networks don't want to spend the money for HD coverage of Reality TV shows.

The thing was shot in HD - all they needed to do was convert it to 720p - obviously that didn't happen........ Don't know what the cost is for this - anybody has a guess?? Shouldn't be all that much - especially if you consider that you already spent the money recording it in HD

It's in HD according to ABC's website. It looks like WFTV dropped the ball on this.

EDIT: I've sent them an email. I'll post whatever response I get.
This was not a WFTV problem. No one in the country received the show in HD. Mark Cuban is trying to get the second episode distributed on ABC in HD next week.
The WOFL splicer was finally up and running tonight and passing the Fox network HD feed. Now the audio (especially during spikes) will actually be dropout free, unlike before. One drawback no 608 captions now during network.

Cuban must be pissed about ABC network's inability to send his show out in HD. I wonder if it has anything to do with his choice of 1080i and their choice of 720p.
satpro,

Good to see your posts again!

I think Cuban is pissed. His whole thing these days is hi def. I suspect his show was dropped back to SD for the same reason some of those NBC shows like American dreams and Vegas. The network demands a SD and a HD master so the production company delivers the SD first and then works on the HD version until the last minute. Some weeks they would simply run out of time before the air deadline and fall back to the SD safety net version.
Cuban is "upset" about this, I read somewhere (can't recall) that he got into a pissy match and claimed he would just pull the show and air it on HDNET unless something was done. It's no big deal to him, he's got money to burn when the legal issues start.

FYI: Quote from KABC 7 LA:
"The Benefactor" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound

Whoops: Forgot this one, right off the ABC Website:

E-VSB's refinements to the ATSC DTV Standard are designed to give digital TV broadcasters the flexibility to choose between bit rate and added robustness without impeding high-definition television (HDTV).

I know what bit rate is but what part of technology defines robustness?

Is that like making my digital audio sound warmer?

Does anyone know if WGFL CBS gainseville fl gone HD yet? They have a digital channel (28-1) but is running on an sta. I know they have a construction permit for a 625 kw tower, but i am wondering when they may start operating? The only other clue i have is a story from cox cable in gainseville that says WGFL is going HD sometime this month and when they do they will put them on thier cable system.
If I had to guess it looks like your saying that WGFL-DT is temporarily transmitting digital from a different nearby tower while their current analog transmitter site is either building a new tower or modifying the existing tower to hold the second antenna.

The FCC database shows different longitude and latitude coordinates for the temp. transmitter location.

If the digital channel shows up on cable before it is available over the air then you will know they bought a fiber optic link to the cable head-end.

Did anyone else catch MNF last night? Was it just me or did it look awful? I flipped to 9.2 and they were multicasting 'ABC News Now'. There's really no sense broadcasting HD sports if you are going to multicast anything else at the same time.

My antenna was blown off the roof by Frances. I recently put it back up and have noticed that reception is good on all my channels except WKMG. Is WKMG operating at reduced power or do I just need to re-aim my antenna again? I'm in West Volusia (DeBary). BTW, I have a Channel Master 4228 antenna and the antenna pole snapped right at the joint of 2 sections. I was lucky even though the antenna fell about 30 ft. there was very little dammage to it. Thanks.

I did also notice artifacts on MNF. WFTV should turn off that subchannel during sports or move it to WRDQ-DT.

WKMG signal strength here seems to be as it was before the hurricane. You might want to check to see if the matching lines on the antenna (those two criss-crossing wires connecting the elements) are not shorting to the boom or to each other. Also re-exmaine the UHF section at the front of the antenna for anything abnormal.

Could also be a connector problem.

I had trouble with WKMG last night with the signal ranging from 0% to 77%. Is that the station or do I need to have-my antenna adjusted?

Sure sounds like the old shorted coax connector with high frequency loss. How strong does analog wrbw channel 65 come in?

Another week of SD delivery of the Benafactor in Orlando however I did manage to catch the tail end of a show on HD NET which ended about 15 minutes early. HD Net took the 15 minutes and replayed a condensed version of the Monday show and camera for camera, cut for cut, edit for edit (although a brief version) was the same as from the SD Monday delivery.

They ended the piece by stating, "Watch the Benefactor on ABC Monday's and coming soon to in High Definition to HD NET." Though that was interesting...

I live out in Satellite Beach (just north of Melbourne Beach) and I was wondering if anyone in the Melbourne area has a recommendation on a good OTA Antenna so that I can get the Orlando Digital Channels.

According to AntennaWeb it looks like I need an antenna with a range of about 43 miles and the type they recommend is the Medium Directional or "RED" range.

I read some forums that recommend the DB4 antenna but I was wondering if anyone in the area has any recommendations or tips of their own on what to get or what to stay away from.

I havent set up the system yet so I'm also wondering if I even need to install a roof mounted antenna. I heard somebody from the area say they just use an amplified antenna on top of their TV and get lots of the same channels.

Thanks in advance.

get the zenith silver sensor, it will pick up uhf signals up to 50 miles, it will get all the digital channels from the bithlo towers except wesh nbc (they are vhf).
