The latest news has come in. The much awaited HD941 should be shipping around Thanksgiving. Samsung added a feature that will tie together Samsung products more seamlessly.

Any chance this has anything to do with the 74 pricing too?
When are we going to get that nailed down?

Thanks,

I was in BB the other day and the sales dude said that their 4 year $399 warranty is renewable when it expires. So, you can figure on spending $100/year to keep it covered. Can some BB employee comfirm this?

Does anyone know if the $289 4 year RepairMaster warranty from TV Authority is renewable at the end of the term?

Dont worry about it, you'll want a new TV by then anyway... :D

Yes, I will *want* one, but will not be able to *afford* one. Wife and I already think it is somewhat rediculous/irresponsible to spend $3K on a TV, so this has to last awhile.

BTW, recommended reading: The Millionaire Next Door.

You could always go next door and watch his TV!:D

No the Repair Master extended service plan is not renewable. I would double check with BB, though. I have their terms and conditions here, and don't see anything about renewal.

The Repair Master plan does not cover the bulb. If you find a plan that does cover the bulb, make sure it is specifically stated in the terms and conditions.

Does the repair master plan cover the bulb in any sort of way? I understand it is a wear and tear item but it seems it should be covered if it goes out well before it is supposed to.

Just curious.

As fas as the pricing on the 74 series, Neil touched on this waaaay back at the beginning of this thread when talking about what we've learned about powerbuys.

"The second thing we learned from our experiences, was not to quote prices before Samsung actually sends out dealer pricing. It's easy to assume what pricing can be by taking "x"% off of MSRP, but we prefer to base our cost on most definitive information. "

Then let me re-phrase my question:

Any idea when Samsung is going to give you the dealer pricing?

Strange TVA lowered the price of the HLP6163 to $3295 delivered...I paid $3699 delivered with the TVA power buy...$404 less than power buy...that sucks!

Definitely a bummer. The new 5063 price is under the PB price as well.

So, in addition to worrying yourself silly about when your DLP will be delivered and tolerating all the early production problems, you get to pay a lot more. Hmmmm....ah, yes, that must be why they call it the bleeding edge.

The price on the 63 series is reduced because as time goes on most electronic items get cheaper and the 74 series is now available. I got a call today from TV Authority today with pricing on the HLP 5674. Price is $3,825, including shipping. It will ship in about 2-weeks. The 4674 will ship on 11/2, I didn't ask the price on that.

is it just me, or does that price sound a little high? it doesn't appear that tvauthority is giving much of a discount on these tvs, at least in comparison to the other tvs listed on their avsforum members page.

You got to be freakin' kidding me! $3825? That's ridiculous.
$800 more for a 6 segment color wheel. Whoo hoo. I'm pissed!
I think the price is very fair. It's about $500 over the price of a 5664. For that you get the Tantus model with the thin bezel and the two plus chip. Remember the price includes shipping. No other model has such a thin frame. Count me in.
Yeah, but for about the same price you can get the 5685;

HD2+ chip
4th Gen Light Engine
and 7 segment color wheel
Not to mention the bitchin' case

Also, the price on the 5663 is now just a shade over $3k, not 500 less than the quote for the 5674.

For a glorified HLN 567W (only major difference is the HD2+ chip, really) I would think that the price point would be at least $300 to $400 less. Hell, the Mitsu's are even less than what they hit the market at.

Maybe the thin bezel color did change; to 24k Gold!

:rethinking the whole thing now:

any idea where 4674 pricigin will fall? I do'nt see retails online with numbers, or models up.

Question for those who took advantage of this powerbuy- Approximately how long did it take to receive your TV after you ordered (not counting pre-orders)?

Also, for thos who ordered before the price drop and did not receive their TV yet, TVA will work with you on a price adjustment. I talked with them today regarding my order and we did agree on a partial adjustment.

I won't disclose the details in case they are doing it on a 'by the case' basis, buy I am pretty happy with what they offered based on the fact that they did purchase my TV at the higher (Samsung) price.

This was my first order with TVA. I am pretty happy so far (althought I can't wait to get the TV!!)
