In a live sports program, you never know when you will get a local break. This hedges the bets and keeps stations in the good graces with the FCC.
If a station had an HD graphics generator does the splicer allow them to just overlay the graphics onto the HD network feed?
I can live with it- not a deal breaker in any way- but i'm curious. Did most stations walk down to the junk pile in the basement to find a graphics generator for their HD channel. I can understand saving some money when the veiwership isnt so high yet- so just curious.
