Raptor00 is right on. If you casually glance at the surrounding
message boards, look at Chicago, Madison, WI and Quad Cities.
The high-def equipment FOX uses has had numerous problems.
Here near Chi-town, we watched in horror as the PSIP generator
on FOX WFLD-DT 31 crashed an hour and a half before the Super
bowl started. Some OTA people couldn't get the game. And they were TICKED!
Wracer obviously knows what he is talking about, is learning a ton
as he goes along, and built the HD station, fer crying out loud
(minus climbing up the tower and stringing up the antenna and
lead-in). One of our DT stations up here was off the air for 3 days,
an NBC O&O! And if that happened to them two weeks ago in market
WLS wasn't PSIP compliant until last week. A few stations
still aren't. One doesn't have any PSIP at all. So, yes, you have
a legit desire to want WEEK et al to get on the HD bandwagon.
But give Wracer a break...it's making no ad revenue from them
since the DT signed on at low power, won't for some time
to come, and his bosses (along with everyone elses bosses,
pretty much) don't think it is yet worth having backup equipment.
Be patient...I bet that splicer arrives early next week and Wracer
has you singing a happy tune by the end of the week!
P.S. A guy in southern DeKalb county I know has stopped watching
WFLD-DT and watches WYZZ-DT because the HD picture (AND
especially the audio) is better!!!
