I saw the link but couldn't see the pdf. Could you send me the link in a private message?
Thanks,

Here is a link to the Moxi 3012 User Guide.
Scroll down about half way down the page--listed under MOXI HD.

Except for the cable card description, most of this user guide could have been written for the Moxi 9012. I was disappointed in the following apparent lack of features:
1. Unlike the 9012, there is no coaxial digital output....only an optical one.
2. Like the 9012, S-video and composite outputs were not identified as being active with an HD setting; however, this may have just been an omission of the user guide since all other cable boxes now seem to have full-time active SD outputs.

My needs are simpler, though yours aren't any less valid:
  • Runs cooler
  • Better signal tolerance
  • Better (analog) picture quality
  • It's really going to happen

Unfortunately, none of those questions were answered.

Actually on 2nd look, the document MadCityBrad linked is a lot bigger than my document. The one I found is at http://cc2uatx.chartercom.com/custom...Y.xbin?ID=2100. I don't know what differences there are; one may be just a more concise version of the other.

Am I reading page 42 correctly? The new Moxi does NOT support an external USB drive.....only an external eSATA drive?

What you found is only the "Get Connected" chapter, pulled from the MadCityBrad link .... page for page.

Your needs are important to us all, with the biggest being "It's really going to happen". For me, the new Moxi also needs to comfortably fit into my current TV network that depends on the DVR's outputs being as good, but preferably better than, the current Moxi outputs....which should be very easy to meet.

That is the way I read it.

For me the most important feature for an improvement is to have the S-Vid output actively showing a 480i signal at all times...no matter what is being sent out on the component outputs.

It's odd.....from what I read on this thread, what everyone likes about Moxi is its software, mainly the user interface. What we seem to have the most trouble with is the hardware...heat, sensitivity to signal strength, S-Vid not being active during HD programming.

Why is the Moxi tied to just one hardware platform? Why isn't it just a software product that can be portted to any hardware platform?

Good question, Tobias. Well-stated.

Rwinner,

You may have noticed that our Asheville PBS program problem that was fixed Tuesday is back today....this time only affecting Channel 788, which now erroneously has the PBS Education program guide.

I'm thinking that by us working both through Charter customer service, and CharterJames, the problem may have been "fixed" twice...once correctly on Tuesday, and then unfixed today by a less careful technician. Therefore, for now, I'm planning to only work through CharterJames, and have already emailed him. If you would send me a private message with your email address, we could copy one another with any obvious system Moxi problems we send to CharterJames.

Went home yesterday morning and found that my Moxi box had a burned up power supply. Called Charter at 730 and told them once I got through there automated troubleshooting asked to have a new Moxi installed told that would not be a problem and they were out to replace it by 10 pretty good response. Of course this tech did not have a Moxi on his truck so he installed a Motorola box which I do not like. Called Charter back in the afternoon when I woke up as basically was told to take what I got they do not control what the tech has. To make a long story short anybody know how I can get another Moxi out of them.

Call the Retention department (basically hit the "Cancel Service" menu option when you call) and tell them you were promised a Moxi, you want a Moxi, or you will be considering one of your many other TV viewing options.

hi, all:

it's that time of the year and i really want to add a TV to my bedroom so i can lay on the bed while watching the 2nd half of NBA games. what's the best setup for connecting the second tv to the cable box? should i ask Charter to give me another HD receiver? (does that cost extra money?) or should i use slightbox or some sort? the problem with any mediacenter technology is that i don't have my wrieless router on the first floor (where my Moxi DVR is), so just base on my limited knowledge of how the media center equipment is setup, i don't that can be done easily at my house. please correct me if i'm wrong. i'm open to any suggestions.

thanks guys!

I know a 2nd regular box is only $5 ... not sure about the HD box. That's probably the easiest way ... do you already have a cable run in there? In my bedroom I just plugged the cable into the TV .. but its an old SDTV and I really only cared about the basic stuff as I don't watch a whole lot of TV in bed. And that option is free

We in the Lincolnton area are still having problems with the UNC-TV listings. UNC-TV HD (783) is correct, but channel 701, which is supposed to be showing UNC-KD listings, is showing instead UNC-NC listings, which are supposed to be shown at 703 (which is showing UNC-ED listings).

The PBS listing problem in Asheville has not yet been corrected, either. I sent another email to CharterJames and included a copy of your posting. I wonder why this seems to be only a North Carolina problem? The free TVGOS listing that is used by my Sony DVR is correct for these stations, so I'd think this should be an easy fix....but we may be getting into a holiday season problem.

I have a Maxtor MaxLine Plus II hard drive that I took out of an old computer. If I were to get an enclosure for this would it be compatible with Moxi?

I know universal remotes have been discussed in the past but could anyone suggest the best model currently to use with the Moxi?

Specifically and most important, does it have a button that will function as the 3 min skip does on the Moxi remote?

Thank You.

Thank You.

You really use a 3 min skip? 30 seconds!

Everyone will suggest a Harmony remote, because they are the best. I use one, works fine. Many models depending on your $$$ range.

Yes. Same button just set up differently in Moxi settings after version 4.1 options. The 3 min skip is probably the most important button on my remote. 3 min skip plus about 20sec ff will get you through most tv commercial breaks as quickly as possible.

I guess I am looking at the 880.
3 min skip works perfectly on most shows. Except for the first commercial after show intro. try it. you'll like it.

Can't I'm hooked on the 30 sec skip. I mean before they updated that in one of the software updates, everyone was clamoring for it. It doesn't matter, we all use what we're used to.

I tried to search through the thread, but couldn't seem to find this addressed anywhere. I have two moxi boxes in my house and was wondering if there was a way to share recordings between the two? I have a 500GB external on one and would love to be able to access those recordings from my other MOXI box as well. Is this possible??

No sir. If you plug the external into the second Moxi it will want to reformat it for its own use. You could possibly use a Slingbox or some other 3rd party system, but you cannot simply move the external HD around.
I should have phrased my question better. I didn't want to move the extenal back and forth, I was wondering if I could plug both moxis into my existing home network and enable them to see eachothers recordings and be able to share them between the two boxes.
I am no longer a cable subscriber, but I surfed over to http://www.bendbroadband.com/residen...bID=eqp&adct=3 and under their equipment page it showed a picture and detailed information of the MOXI 3012. So I assume they are deploying and it should just be a matter of time when the biger cable companies deploy them.

EDIT: they still have information from the 90xx units, but since the manual is circulating it should be that hard to bare (the wait).

The only thing that will do that is the MoxiMate.

"Up to 50 hours record time (up to 9 hours HD)"----

Nine hours??!!! I didn't see external drive on the list, but with that capacity it would be a must.

The picture of the 3012 is the only thing that suggests the new model. They don't call it out by model number, nor do the features seem any different than the moxi boxes we've had for the last four years. In fact, the limited recording times suggest that it is not the new model. At least, I'd hope the new model (without an external hard drive) would have MUCH better recording times than those pitiful values listed.
