Sammy HLP and the 688 - anyone? - Page 3  

Aargh. I just tried to set mine up today and had the HDMI problem with my HLP5663W. Did a search to see if it was solved, and I see that the problem is weeks old and apparently not resolved.

Anyone find a fix? The whole reason I spent all the $$$ on this remote was to get a super-easy setup for the family to use, and if it won't switch to HDMI, then it's essentially useless as the "family" remote.

(Ah, I just read closer. I don't have anything connected to the DVI input, so it's not switching to HDMI properly. Drat. Hopefully someone will find the discreet code soon.)

Also, the "Live TV" button isn't working on my HD Tivo, but I figure I can manually fix that one.

Is it possible to setup the 688 to quickly (i.e. with 2 or less key-presses) increment/decrement the HLP contrast, brightness and color values? I want to eliminate the 6-7 keypresses needed to just get to the control, as is required using the Sammy remote.

Anyone actually done this?

Any success with the HDMI input switch problem???

I spent over 2 hours on the phone with them earlier this week trying to get my HLP5063 to switch inputs correctly to no avail. They do not have discreet codes for this TV - that's the problem. Everything was actually working fine until I re-configured my system & connected my STB to the DVI input. Now I can't get (& neither could Harmony) the TV to switch to the correct input - they tried to help me configure it to toggle to the right input, but for some reason, the DVI input gets in the way. It seems to "block" it from switching - makes it miss one "toggle" or something. Whatever, it doesn't work correctly - looks like we're still waiting for discreet codes...

Hopefully someone will post here when this is resolved...

Your problem is not the codes I have a mx 700 and the only codes that are unavailable is the hdmi codes and the ant code your biggest problem I think is that if the source its receiving is not on it will skip it and go to the next available. what I did was set up a macro I have my dvd player connected to the hdmi and my sat box to my dvi, so I go to my dvi discrete code first and then turn on my dvd player and the put my receiver to change to dvd and then the reg input button on the remote the macro takes about 4 sec but its an alternative

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The HDMI input is not on until the DVD player comes on.

I need to play with my remote this weekend and do something similar to your setup.

Do you know the discrete code or setting for the 'Source' button on the HLP remote?

If I set up a macro, I can use this command to change to the next input.

This is really frustrating. Anyone found a remote that works properly with the HLP if you're using HDMI?

here is a ccf file and an mdx file everthing but the the hdmi code you have to do the macro yourself because of all the diffrent steps and equipment

A customer just set me the attached .ccf he got from Samsung. It has HDMI input commands and others. Hoever, it may only work with the plasma sets. Can someone here try it out with their HLP set and see if it works?

I just received my 659 and set it up with my HLP6163, Hughes HTL-HD, VCR, DVD and Denon Receiver. The remote works perfectly in turning on/off appropiate equipment and then switching inputs on the Sammy from DVI, VID 1 and Componet 1. Inputs on the Denon switch as needed. This is truely a remote that has an extremely high WAF. I am far happier with it than the MX-500 it is replacing. This is a great product!!!

OK---Great. HOW did you do it?? :-) ALOT of folks here would LOVE to know how---many of us are having issues getting the 659 to work correctly (and CONSISTANTLY) with the Sammy HLP's.

I am using the file HPL6163W and just following the setup dialog. There are 4 or 5 files that look similar i.e. HL-P6163 and HPL6163W-XX but I used the one labeled HLP6163W. I am not using anything connected to the HDMI which still seems to be a problem. The remote will switch between DVI, Vid1 and component 1 with no problem.

Hum--that's almost scarry. I have the HLP5063W. ("Same" TV--different size.) And I finally gave up trying to get the programming right for the HLP. Called Harmony--they were able to get it to work (Used a "toggle" to switch/count thru the inputs---which BTW, only worked till I tried to change a conponets input, and it's slow) I wonder if the file for the 6163 is different (uses discrete codes) or you were "lucky"----Would Harmony's support know/or be able to see this?? Maybe I'll try using the 6163W file for mine like you did. ??

I guess this is as good a place as any to post this question. First off, bought the 659 today. Programmed it for my HLP6163W and it seems to be working very well. My question is this, I have Adelphia digital cable. My samsung tv handles the audio for the analog chanels (<100) and then my AV receiver kicks in on the digital chanells (> 100). Is there a way I can program my Harmony remote to start up the receiver when a chanel greater than 100 is selected? It would also be nice if it transferred the volume control to the AV receiver. Any info would be great. I guess I can always have the AV receiver activate on all chanels but still no volume control. Thanks...

Also in response to the previous messages, I'm not sure but I could swear that when I was performing the initial configuration online it selected the HLP5063W as my reccommended television. Thought it strange but continued with the config and everything seems to be working... Just my .02 cents...

This has probably already been said, but I did a work around for accessing the HDMI input on my HLP6163 from the Harmony 659 remote (688 should be similar or the same).

For the activity (mine was 'Watch a DVD'), setup the controls (using custom, not basic).

Go throught the setup.
During the initial setup, select DVI as the tv input (even though you want HDMI)

At the end, set up additional commands.

Personally, I used 3.

First one was a 500ms delay (to allow the DVD player to come on)

Second was to switch the input to DVI (yes its repetitive, but sometimes the initial one doesn't work...dont know why)

Third was to send the TV/Video command (this is the same as the 'source' button on the tv's remote). It will go to the next input (which is HDMI)

This works beautifully for me and is pretty fast! I hope it works for those of you who are frustrated with this functionality.

I recently got a harmony 680, and set it up to use with an hlp-5063 - no dice on the discrete codes. I am using component 1, DVI, and HDMI. The only discrete that does not work is HDMI (I tried HDMI 1 and 2 from the harmony site).

Anybody using the 688 and a 74 series? I'm planning on getting it and would assume it will work similarly to the 63 series but a confirmation would be helpful. Thanks.

I just got new Harmony 676 and HLP4663. I can't get the TV to switch to either S-Video 2 or DVI. I got around the S-Video problem by using S-Video 1 instead, but I can't seem to get to DVI.

Mike, does the database have the DVI discrete codes for the HLP4663?

I figured out the DVI one....you have to set it to DVI I. And I did find a page on RemoteCentral with the discrete codes for S-Video 2, but I don't need it now.

This is already a long thread but I've just purchased a Harmony 680 and it does not have the correct discrete codes for my Samsung HLN507W. I believe my firmware version is 321 or so and it definitely has discrete codes for directly selecting the video input. However, only some of the codes seem to be right. InputAntenna works, as does InputSVideo(1) and InputRGB. None of the component input codes work however nor the DVI code. Harmony tech support told me to switch to using the menuing system of the TV but I paid for the firmware upgrade on my Samsung and I don't want to go back to having to cycle through inputs.

Has anyone got an HLN507W working properly with a Harmony remote?

I've been looking into purchasing a nice remote for my system and so far the harmony seems to be the top of my list. The problem is that i use both DVI and HDMI regularly and want this remote to handle everything my wife needs for watching a DVD in one simple command.

I was taking a test drive of the configuration software on the Logitech site today and noticed that there are several different HLP5063 configurations available. So here are the questions;

1. Are these configurations new?
2. Has anyone tried all of the various files?
3. Is there anyway to see the order that the remote is sending the commands to ensure that the "change input to HDMI command" is not happening before the "turn on DVD player" command?

The HDMI discrete worked out of the box for me. It was DVI and s-video 2 that I had some issues with. I submitted the pronto DVI code that I found to them for review. I tried the other extended model numbers, hlp5063wx/xaa but still had to supply my own DVI code. Still no working svideo2 but I don't use that input anyway. Is there a reason that you are needing the input to switch after? I don't have a problem with the TV refusing to tune to an input that's not active.
