It is like we here are the wise ones and the poor innocents who go into B&M stores need to be protected by us the wise ones. It is as if there is an assumption that these poor people are stupid, that they don't know about the internet, they don't know about search engines to obtain information from many different sources. This is a ridiculous assumption-if they are well off enough to go into a medium to high end A-V store you can be sure they have a computer at home with a high speed connection and know how to use it. If they choose not to do the research that is fine-it is their choice.
Gee I wonder how these poor lambs are able to function without us at all-how they are able to keep a job, buy a car, raise families, or purchase a house without our help?
Ok, let's say your wife pulls into a mechanic's shop because she hears a break "squeak" on her 2003 Lexus. The mechanic walks over, shows her some "break dust" and tells her she needs a new break system immediately ($1,950). She's holding your crying child, this guy is hovering over her and stating the car is NOT SAFE TO DRIVE!!! She tries to call you on the cell phone but hey, you're in a meeting all day in London and she's freaking out!
Now, myself, a master mechanic, happen to be in the shop and overhear this garbage -
Do I -
A) Inform her she's being ripped off by this predator and direct her to an HONEST shop
B) Hey, she's got a computer and she looks bright and she's got some $$$ so she knows what she doing
C) Mind my own business - after all, it's not MY shop and I wouldn't want to make an ASSumption
Oh hell, maybe I'll just be a jerk and go for answer A. If you decide to call me later and yell at me for looking out for your family, then I'll just have to deal with it.
