I reset it, but it still didn't work. I'm just glad I noticed it early because if I had missed the season premier of Battlestar Galactica I would have been pissed. Hey at least now I can trade it and hopefully get a 160 gig box.

Well my hat goes off to Cox for their HD PQ. I remember many skeptics (myself included) that believed Cox would be so bit-starve HD that it would be unwatchable.

ESPN has PQ far better than any of the OTA sports broadcasts(or CBS on cable). Very little blocking. While I think it hasn't reached that OMG stage, in most cases it is extremely good. Discovery, Universal, TNT and INHD1/2 also produce a lot of very good programming (PQ wise). This is more a comment on the source than Cox.

With all of the wind and such there were only two stations that were reliable yesterday (PBS and Fox). Thank goodness for Cox! I am hoping that we get all of the locals on Cox, that Cox get more HD stations and that it PQ gets better not worse.

Agreed. Watched "Walk the Line" the other night on Cox HBOHD, excellent soundtrack. I'm not a JC fan, but I love the way every time there is a live performance scene portrayed, the volume and dynamics go up, just like one would hear at a real performance.

Watching (hearing) it on Cox seemed just as great as when we rented the DVD.

For all of you sci fi fans out there that may have missed the original Firefly series a couple years ago on Fox, it is being rebroadcast in HD on Universal HD Channel on Sunday nights. It started last night but they don't appear to be running them in sequence from the beginning. This is the original series that the movie Serenity was adapted from and released earlier this year. Firefly was a quality series by Josh Whedon that was too expensive to produce for TV and cancelled after a few episodes. My wife and I found it entertaining enough to actually order the five unbroadcast episodes from Netflix.

Last night was the third installment. The first was the two hour permiere. I think they are running them in the intended order. The first on air running order wasn't correct (I forget which network it was first run).

Fox originially ran it out of order on friday nights in an alledged method to kill the show due to costs. IT still got a following despite this.

Does this get COX and the locals to the table???

I just talked to a Verizon guy (unofficially) and he says full FiOS w/locals this winter here in HR. Take it for what it is worth.

Did VB grant a franchise to Verizon? I knew it was up for discussion. My parents will be happy IF this is true. They have had fiber laid in their backyard for over two months. Also if this is true, will this really get COX and the locals together???

Hopefully it will! But I'm sure we (the COX subscribers) will be the ones who end up paying for it....

Unknown. If I were Verizon, I would get all my ducks aligned in a row (all the locals and the City in agreement) before signing anything to keep some leaker from letting out the news. Then, with everything in order, I would finalize everything at once and make a single big announcement to the press. Now, that would grab headlines and bring in the customers!

Does the Cox HD-DVR have a DVI out? Does it work or does the box just work with the component out? I'd like to hook it up to an LCD monitor. Also is there an audio out that works with the single pin kind of audio plug? I'm not sure what it's called.

FWIW Verizon is on my street laying fiber and I got the orange notice on my door last week.

There are some DVR's w/ DVI out but your best bet is to use a HDMI -> DVI cable.

If the audio you're talking about is orange its commonly referred to as spdif & yes it is on the receiver.

Ok. Basically what I'd like to do is buy this monitor, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824112002 , and hook up the Cox HD-DVR to it and use it as a computer monitor. It's for a small room where I watch TV occasionally.

OK that's a standard 2.5 jack (like headphones). You'll need a rca to 2.5 jack. They sell them at radio shack.

Great. Thanks for the quick response.

Hey Occasio, does you Cox office keep the new DVRs in stock there? (Pembroke Mall, right?) Wifey complained she was going to miss House tomorrow night, told her I would pick one up.
yeah and my stock is getting real low. You don''t need a relacement right, this is an upgrade right?
I'll be trading in my ancient 6200.
Wow good old plain HD boxes.....give me a call 222-8050 so that I can put one to the side for you. I don't get in till 12.
Awesome, talk to you tomorrow!
Anything new with local HDs? Also what is Mediacom and why is it available on the TitanTV guide for Chesapeake? I've never heard or seen any ads for them.

Need some help with my DVR. Picked it up a couple of weeks ago, have an issue with the HDMI output.

When I first hooked it up, started off with the component video output. That worked OK, but the non-HD channels are a lot darker than they were on my 6200.

I picked up a decent HDMI to DVI cable, to connect to my Pioneer RPTV digital input (which accepts DVI-HDCP signals). The digital signal was much brighter and I was a happy camper. I then turned everything off to move the audio cables over, and move everything to where they belong and ...no video signal.

Thought I may had damaged the cable, so ran over to the Radio Shack, to try one of their cables, same results.

I can borrow a DVD player with HDMI, to check the input of the TV. Any ideas what I can check for in the DVR? I did access the diagnostic menu; it is showing the HDMI port is not being used.

Worst case scenario I can probably adjust the component signal brighter and continue using it. Just stinks that I finally got to use the DVI inputs, and now I can't

This really is not a Cox issue. You should be able to get an answer if you post your question in this forum: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=25

INHD2 will shut down at the end of the year and merge with INHD1, which may be renamed "Mojo".

I wonder what COX will replace it with?? Aside from more locals, I really wish they'd pickup HDNet. I'd be much more likely to switch back to them if that happened.
