The world is yours. You can have 2 WHDVR (hosts) networked or unnetworked. It's a pro install no matter what. Might have some specials on installation right now. It's the same price for either DVR. It's all about the $5 networking fee.

When I called tech support (thinking they needed to send some sort of signal to activate the client box on that outlet), they told me to put the client box back in the den, and a tech would have to come out and move it as a new install. Like I said, he cleaned up a little wiring behind cable outlet, then the networking worked, and I was charged $79.99 for the box move and outlet rewire. When I first had the WHDVR installed way back, that's how much they charged when four techs came out and pretty much recabled the whole house.

Honestly I'm not sure.

The newer Cisco 86xx DVRs are needed for their 1GHz support and MoCa capabilities. [The Cisco 86xx series boxes dropped the SA logo.] What's really nice about the TRIO guide is the number of configuration options - including 16:9 or 4:3 operation, and multiple guide layouts. Once you get used to TRIO, you'll never want to used SARA or Passport again.

That's what I love & hate about this forum. You can't be lazy because everyone knows their tech....lol...Another round of trio upgrades coming before the year is out.

Hopefully PIP and/or slow-mo (preferably the latter.)

...And, according to the CSR I spoke with, if the two DVRs are NOT connected as a network, a DVR service fee will be charged on both (usually $9-$10 per month.) If the DVRs are networked, only a single DVR service fee applies. So, by not networking you save the $5 PLUS PAK fee, but incur another $10/month DVR service fee.

I already pay lets say $20/month for the 2 DVR's. So, it sounds that if I get 2 WHDVR's and have them networked I'll end up saving $5. That sounds like a win to me.

Occ, who do I email from Cox about a User harrassing me?

He's been all over my account on youtube and several message boards, claiming that i do things that I dont, making false statements about me, and pretty much mentioning my name with a bunch of "orientation" expletives.

He's also been running servers for games that I play with my screen name in them.. etc..

I traced his IP back to Cox Arizona. and Can provide Screenshots of server names with expletives as well as his youtube profile where he's constantly mentioning my name with the same expletives.

I don't know what your cable company's rates are. Let's say $8 for each DVR and $10 per DVR for service. So, for two DVRs networked & the Plus Pak it would be $8x2 +$10 +$5 = $31. For two DVRs not networked & the Plus Pak it would be $8x2 + $10x2 = $36, which is $5 more. So, networking is actually cheaper regardless of the $5 Plus Pak fee (or should I say "Networking" fee.)

Sorry if it didn't come across that way but that's what I was trying to say. Having them networked will end up saving me $5.

After having to manually reset my client box about once a week and calling in for a remote reset about once a month, tech is finally sent out and I end up with a new client box. It took so long for the firmware/account to sync at least I found out the story behind the downloading update and flashing screen problems.

With this revised whdvr cost stuff, what would be the price difference if I changed from my networked host & client to 2 networked host?
From my most recent bill:

"Effective November 1, 2012, Cox Hampton Roads will be making changes to the way we offer the Plus Package. The $5 Plus Package fee will apply only to customers who have Cox Whole Home DVR with the Trio Program Guide. All other customers with our Trio Program Guide will no longer have this charge."

So, is this what you mean by paying $5 for the "networking" fee? What other dvr's offer the Trio Guide?

The Cisco 8642 DVR can be used in a "networked" (WHDVR) system, or by itself like any other DVR. Both installations use the TRIO guide. Also, using just a STB like a 46xx or 16xx enables one to obtain the free Plus Pak programming.

Not much we can do. The first amendment doesn't give us much leeway. If he threatens you, you can report him to the police.

That math is a little off based on what you are saying. You would not have 2 DVRs anymore. You are saying 1 DVR host & 1 client box. I

2 DVRs not networked $8x2 + $10x2 = $36
2 DVRs networked $8x2 + $10x2 + $5 = $41
1 DVR & 1 client networked $8x2 + $10 + $5 = $31

No. 2 DVRs networked = $8x2 + $10x1 + $5 = $31 [There's only one DVR service fee when two DVRs are networked, at least locally.]

I would report him/her to the police and perhaps FBI without hesitation.

I was able to resolve the issue for the time being.

I Notified him that all his Youtube spam and deformation comments were simply being forwarded to my law office, which is building a case against him for Cyber Stalking, Harassment and Deformation of Character. I traced his IP that he used for some game servers, but there’s no way to really tell if he wasn’t using a proxy.

Google didnt seem to care when i reported his comments/user/profile

Make sure you file a formal complaint with his ISP. If you do need to take this further it will be good to have this on file (if you haven't already). I had to do this for a business on behalf of a client and it was needed and helped in the long run.

You will see the Android app next. Following that I would say we have to see what the 720 has in store for partners like Cox.
So which version of math is correct for the cost?

And when is the android app coming, rather absurd that its only been out for apple after this amount of time.

It depends on whether or not your local Cox branch charges a DVR service fee for BOTH DVRs in a networked system ($10x2), or just for the first DVR ($10x1.) Call your local CSR (try to get a supervisor) to be sure.

That would be me. For the Norfolk market it is the math I put up.

Hey guys another big piece of news. We are launching the Sports Pack in HD.

• We currently carry all 10 Sports Package TEAM channels and all 14 GAME channels in SD.
– TEAM SDs are made up of MLB/NHL Channels 651-660
– GAME SDs are made up of MLS/NBA Channels 670-683
• Not all MLB, NHL, NBA and MLS games are filmed in HD format, therefore, there will be fewer HD sports package games than there are SD games
• Cox will carry all available HD games from TEAM and GAME on or after November 27, 2012
• Requirements: Sports Package subscription of choice, Advanced TV Plus and an Advanced Trio receiver
• The yellow auto-tune to HD function will not be available due to the HD content not being a direct mirror of the SD content
• Existing package subscribers with an advanced receiver will automatically start enjoying the games offered in HD as soon as they launch
