6-tuner DVR will be introduced much later.

We actually started deploying a different DVR last month to testers. I'm not sure of the model number, but it is a 6 tuner DVR.

Ah...to "testers." How long until this beastie makes its way to actual customers?

After a few months of TRIO, I would never go back to Passport

I had the same problem when I came back from a business trip last week. It looked fine when I left but the guide was shifted to the left. I disconnected the AC for a reboot and it fixed it for me.

I hope the new HD involves some sports channels like ESPNews and some form of the Big Ten Network. Also, is there a free preview for the NHL Centre Ice since those turds resolved there problems and any price breaks from the NHL and InDemand sports?

It's been a long time since i've been on here so i'm playing catchup with all the info that's been posted in the last few months.

If i'm understanding everything correctly the last round of HD channels, i believe it was called the plus pack, is now free instead of the $5 monthly fee that was being charged?

It seems as if everything is now being based off the whole home dvr which has a higher frequency and that this higher frequency is going to be needed for any and all future additional HD channels. Is there a non dvr based box that I can get that has the higher frequency that will allow us non dvr users to get the plus pack channels and any future HD channels that are going to be released? Will the non dvr based box still require a pro installation?

Sure. The Cisco 4742/4752, the Cisco 4642/4652, the Cisco 4540/4550, the Cisco 1640/1642. I'm not sure of the Motorola models. Only your local CSR can answer installation questions.

Occasio,

You should tell someone at Cox that they need to update the Index of Cable Boxes in Motorola markets to include which Trio IPG Cisco equipment is available to support the Plus Pak. Currently none are listed???

Update: Motorola 1GHz/H.264 cable set-tops:

DCX3200, DCX3200 P2, DCX3200M-P3, DCX700

Looks like it's limited to the DCX line-up.

Thank you for the research and info. I currently have a big bulky Motorola DCH3200. I know it's old but it's worked fine for me for years.

My next question would be are any of these boxes listed above available in the Hampton Roads area? Will the installation of one of these boxes require a pro install?

If I understand everything that i've read then if I get one of these boxes i'll start getting the plus pack channels at no extra charge and be good to go for future HD channel additions?

The DCX3200 and DCX3200 HD P2 are available in Hampton Roads according to their website. It shouldn't need a Pro Install, but check locally to be sure. Yes, you should get the Plus Pak HD channels (if you subscribe to the SD channel.)

To my knowledge, the Plus Pak HD channels are only available on the Trio IPG equipment (Cisco), Cox has never let the Motorola equipment access the channels, (even though some have the hardware for H.264), unless something has changed recently.

From: https://signup.netflix.com/superhd

"Your Internet Provider is not configured for Super HD yet.

How do I get Netflix Super HD?

Netflix Super HD requires that your Internet Provider is part of the Netflix Open Connect network. Please contact your Internet Provider to request that they join the Netflix Open Connect network so you can get Super HD."

WHEN?

So this is interesting. Cablevision is the only company in the US that has partnered. I guess Cox would ask what is in it for us. Do you see people signing up for an ISP just because netflix 1080p?

The question I have is whether or not the 1GHz/H.264 channels are available in Hampton Roads at all. Their website is quite vague on this issue.

Some happy customers. Give us a little good will and support Netflix Super HD and let's finally get the Big Ten Network while we're at it. I'd add the sports tier to my subscription if I could get the Big Ten Network.

No but I wouldn't have to rent BluRays as much. smile.gif

Seriously, cox should do two things:

1. Get 1080p streaming
2. Offer us a one month movie rental program.

You are probably making a ton of money charging for each movie, but I think you could make more offering a monthly movie package. I might buy one movie a year from you vs. two to five movies (blu ray) a month through red box.

Oh yes, when are we going to get CNN International HD. wink.gif

We don't have full control over the PPV landscape. We work with In Demand. They have started experimenting, like the 2 night rental window now. Look at your math...

5 red box blue rays=$7.50
2 Cox HD New Releases = $10

We are doing pretty good right now & you are saving gas....lol....that's how it would be explained. I would say the next few years will be really interesting in the PPV landscape. Our content library should be increasing 10 fold in the next few months.

I would think that all this means is more bandwidth coming through from each customer for Cox. So, this would mean raising prices I would guess. My problem is I never get the advertised speed from Cox. I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again. I just want to get my max speed all the time but I know this just doesn't happen with cable.

I know you say you don't want/need a DVR, but just thought I would mention that all models of the TiVo Premiere DVR can access the Plus Pak HD channels. The TiVo would replace your Cox STB and Cox rents the CableCARD for $2/mo. Once you try a DVR, you'll never go back to Live TV only.

2 Tuner TiVo TCD746500 Premiere DVR stores 75Hrs of HD recordings w/ a 500GB HDD

$99.99 + $14.99/mo service or $499.99 for Lifetime service

Remember TRIO does not mean Whole Home or DVR. We do offer Whole Home DVR & DVR service & just a plain HD box in Trio. It does take a pro install though.

A plain HD STB requires a Pro Install? Just because it's running TRIO? Are the "Plus Pak" channels available on the Motorola DCX STBs, or is a Cisco STB required?

That's confusing to me. New channels that play nothing but movies...in SD. I'm sure some weren't filmed that way but neither was everything that is on TV now.

that is not true my bill said espn goal line will be on 227 &1227 retroplex will be on 192&1192 indieplex will be on 193&1193 also say a trio box is needed
