Exciting news! Up to 100 channels on Cox TV Connect are available now in Hampton Roads!

(Launch: Hampton Roads on January 31, 2013, ROA/NOVA in development and to be offered soon!)

This week 65 additional cable channels were added to Cox TV Connect in Hampton Roads. Customers now have access to 100 channels including ESPN, Hallmark, Weather Channel, PBS Kids Sprout, Encore, WE, Velocity HD, and Turner Classic Movies! Programming for everyone in the household! A list of the new channels and the associated tiers is detailed below. You may notice that some channels now have both a SD and HD version. While this offers great choices for our customers, it also may also drive questions. Please inform customers that we are aware of this and this is a normal operating function of this app.

Cox TV Connect is an app that allows streaming of live TV on your iPad, iPhone or iPod anywhere in your home and includes enhanced guide features and TV listings. To access the channels on Cox TV Connect, the customer must subscribe to CHSI Preferred or higher and TV Essential and the tier associated with that service. Local channels will be added to Cox TV Connect later this year as will access to the app on Android devices.

Ch 1022 (MTVHD) and 1056 (SpikeHD) show the message "Service Unavailable". I checked the SD feeds and they work fine. It references 3.1.1.2 when calling CCS. I called CCS and went through that dog and pony show. Unplug the box, check the connections and signal reset. Nothing fixed it so now a tech has to come out. I noticed it yesterday night and it remains there tonight. I have a Trio box and none of the other HD channels that I watch are showing an error.

I'm in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake. Any others having trouble with any channels? It was windy last night. Maybe something messed up a cable line or something.

Good for the ipad crowd getting more channel options. How about the HD TV crowd? Any new channels that ARE NOT apart of some previous agreement/deal for other content as the last HD channels were?

Somehow ESPNews is still not offered in HD. Cox HR has to be the last place without it. Big Ten Network in SD or HD would work. It would be nice to see some basketball before the end of the season. The natives are getting restless for some HD channels.

We recently added the PPV Sports Paks & will be adding Goalline/BuzzerBeater in a couple of weeks. ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater operates during the College football season as ESPN Goal Line, and during the College basketball season as ESPN Buzzer Beater. The channel provides live look-ins and analysis of games in progress. The channel only operates on the major game days for their respective sports. Goal Line operates from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM ET on Saturdays, while Buzzer Beater operates from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM ET on Wednesdays, and 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM ET on Saturdays.

Same day you will get Fox Movie channel, MoviePlex, RetroPlex & IndiePlex.

In regards to ESPNews I find it hard to believe it was not in the latest agreement. I'm not sure if you guys have been following the news out on the West Coast. First the Lakers got their own channel, now the Dodgers. This is becoming problematic because these channels expect wide coverage & so do their fans.

Regarding the Dodgers and Lakers, those RSNs can only be offered in the market areas of those teams. So, they have NO impact on you in Virginia.

Hey, Occasio - you guys got any Cisco IR Extenders (IRE5712M, etc.) ??

Can't seem to locate any.

My statement was more of the precedent they are setting. Do we think the Redskins & Panthers are not far behind.

Not sure about the ir's but I can ask.

I have had this happen on other channels in the past.....On one occasion, the cable inside the pedestal in front of my house had a kink in it. Tech cut the line, put on new connectors and the problem was solved. The second occasion was caused by Cox doing some maintenance on the lines in our area. The tech knew nothing about the work being done until he started asking other techs in the area. The work was completed and this issue was resolved. Might also be a STB going bad....I have had a few of those go bad in the past as well.

Plus, these are the 38KHz models and won't work with the new Explorer 46xx, 86xx, 87xx STBs, which use 57KHz.

Thanks Cox for ruining the Super Bowl. All kinds of sound and picture drop outs on both 1003 and 03. I called and had the box reset but that did not help.

It was perfect watching over the air with my antenna. I have cable but always watch OTA when possible because the picture is better, I can also record for free with my antenna DVR. It works well enough that I don't bother with a Cox DVR.

Sorry to hear that. I've been in that same situation before. Was it all channels or just 3?

My Primetime USA and CBS now AWOL

Cox's MyPrimetime On Demand Channel once offered many USA Network series and late last year began offering CBS series. In the past few weeks every time I try to access either, I get a message to check back periodically for blah blah blah. I know that CBS and USA are owned by the same parent company, so this probably isn't a coincidence or just a glitch with my DVR, But just in case of the latter, I'd appreciate it if someone else with Cox in Tidewater could tell me if they are experiencing the same thing.

Thanks.

Several channels, not just 3 - - noticed the problem on USA and A&E as well. It pretty well cleared up Monday - there were a few dropouts but all channels were watchable. Too many people in the area watching the same channel?

After about 2 and a half hours going between hold and attempting to get transferred and then dropped, I finally by chance got on with someone that had the ability to enter cablecard data into the computer. This replacement card though still was unable to get most of the channels so a couple days later I had a tech out. Tech verified my finding that the signal level was too low and “fixed it” by removing the splitter supplying the set top box and the tuning adapter saying the installation drawing was out of date and the USB cable connection between the adapter and the box all that was required to sync the two. It’s working now, but signal level is just above the trouble zone (since only action was to remove a splitter). Would have thought more work would have been done to diagnose why the house is getting such a low signal to start with.

Also see this new announcement about more stuff on the cox connect, what a joke. Is cox getting an apple royalty payment to justify the resources used on a product that is wasted on most of the subscriber base; where are the android, blackberry, and windows versions.

And while we’re talking about absurdity, can we get more commercials about how cox is better than fios because of the fees. Because when I look at my $80 cable package bill I never wonder why my payment looks a lot more like $130.

So you realize you can always just email me or PM me. I can have my team reach out to you. TV Connect is coming for android probably Q2 w/ the new version of it. Apple is typically the first app people develop for because it has been the industry leader. I have an ipad & an android tablet. It's always easier to find the apps on the ipad.

Has anyone ran into issues where their DVR gets stuck in an audio loop when they FF?

Don't know what you mean as an "audio loop", but once in a while my 8642HDC won't "un-mute" itself after FF. Cycling the OFF/ON on the remote is necessary.

i see the new channels are on.

I think it's my audio receiver b/c I have swapped the cable receiver out.
Haven't encounted the audio loop you describe, but one nice audio glitch I've stumbled across with my DVR is when after fast forwarding or rewinding the DVR during a football game and hitting play again, occasionally the announcers' voices disappear, but the sounds from the stands/PA/field remain. I wish I could figure out how to have it happen every time Gruden or Simms is one of the announcers.

What's the Pricing of the DOCSIS 3.0/Gigabit Equipment at the Cox Store? (and what's the selection?) (model numbers etc)

Cuz if it's within Margin of online shopping, I'll just get the stuff there and have them scan the modem in while Im there.
I just purchased this from amazon and will have it tomorrow. Looking forward to improved and steady speeds from now on. I didn't really like what Cox offered on their site and I don't want a "gateway" modem with a built in wireless router.
yeah, that's the modem i was gonna get, Im still looking for a main Router w/ Gigabit Routing and support to open all the ports i need to for gaming on 2 different PCs.

The laptops and other wireless devices can stay on the Surf Router used as a uplink,.

I think I found an bug with the Cisco 8642. Has anyone else encountered it? And how do I report it?

Two days in a row, (Tuesday and Wednesday) I set up the DVR to record WAVY news at 6, and NBC News at 6:30 on channel 1010. I programmed the recordings remotely from the Cox Connect app on my iPhone 5. I got home around 6:15 and backed Live TV on 1010 to 6:00pm and started watching WAVY News, while it was still recording it. At 6:30pm, when NBC News was supposed to start recording, the box abruptly rebooted. Both days, it did EXACTLY the same thing and the same exact time. Since it takes about 8 minutes to reboot, the recording never started until after the reboot completed.

I received my new modem last night and called and got it provisioned. My speeds seem to have returned to normal. Today, the first full day of use, I have lost internet at least twice that I'm aware. I called Cox to see if there were any issues in my area and there were/are none currently. They did tell me they could see that my modem reset itself several times today. Before I go sending this thing back I'm going to give it a few days. My coax comes from the wall and then splits to go to the modem then to a TV. Could the splitter I'm using be causing this problem? I'm using the splitter that was installed by Cox years ago. The splitter is an Sv-2g 2-way Splitter 5-1000mhz. This to me seems more like a problem with the modem or the power it is receiving. I had a similar issue with an 8 port Netgear gigabit switch that I found resetting itself several times a day. I found someone else had this issue and that the AC adapters shipped with the switch were actually underpowered. I changed mine from a 1A to 2A and it now works like new. Anyone else had any issues with a modem like this one?
I have a Cisco 4642HDC in one room and the whole house DVR in another. There are two problems that are really bugging me.

When changing channels between tiers (both units) it often (too often) takes a long time for the program to come up.

When using the audio digital out it syncs intermittently causing low clicks. It is especially bad on On-Demand programming. Basically, it is unusable.
I have a Trio box and I had a problem a couple weeks ago where a few of the HD channels were not coming in but the SD channel worked. The CCS said my signal was bad yadda yadda yadda. A tech came out the following week and said my signal was fine. He also removed the filter that was needed for WHDVR so that $50 professional install was totally pointless as now it was a simple box swap out. The channels came back sometime when I was out of town so it wasnt my signal.

Now I am having the same problem with the ch 1227, the ESPN Buzzer Beater channel. The SD version works but the HD says no signal. I am in the Great Bridge area. I am getting alittle sick and tired of this. To get future HD channels and the ones I already pay for (HBO) in HD, I needed to get the Trio box. I do get the Sports package so I should be getting this channel. I havent called CCS yet because last time it took 45 minutes for the box to reset. They will probably blame my signal. Anyone else having these problems? I love paying for channels and not getting them in HD. Any chance Cox would give me a credit for this mess?

Any news on ESPNews HD or Big Ten Network? I am beginning to think COX will never catch up to their competition in the area. Both DirecTv and Fios have had them for YEARS yet Cox raises rates with nothing of value added. Keep focusing on internet channels and not on TV channels. I cannot wait until I move and can drop COX.
