Yes I noticed this same issue.. very annoying.

The upgrade nuked both of my boxes. After a call to Tech Support I got one working but they told me I would have to wait for a "patch upgrade" for the other one to work. mad.gif

In the end, Occassio was able to find me two newer Moto boxes (I had the old 3416s) at my local Cox office and I swapped both out.

But yes the new upgrade has some issues I don't like. The not listing all the viewings for the show you have highlighted sucks.

Getting several "browers alerts" From Cox on different pages this morning. It is offering a free upgraded modem that is supposed to be faster. The alert wants me to click on a link....Is this legit??? I don't want to open any kind of virus..

Thanks

Cox does have the ability to have a browser pop-up to notify you of various information and there is a program to update customer's phone/modem from a DOCSIS 2.0 to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem.

It is possibly/probably legit, but personally I would never click on one of the browser pop-ups. It is too easy for the bad guys to do the same thing and infect your PC with something.

You can call Cox or stop by one of the retail stores and confirm the offer or take your chances and click on the pop-up if you're interested.

That's us. We have the ability but will only use it sparingly. This is a great deal though & we want to get those older modems off the network.

That was exactly my thinking....I actually had to go to go my Cox store to exchange a box. I asked the rep about the pop ups and she brought up an email they had received about the offer....She was kink of dumb-founded as well thinking that an email should have been more appropriate. I eventually went into my Cox online account and found the option to upgrade, so I did.

With all of the virus, scams, etc. out there, I think Cox should have been well advised to communicate this differently. In my opinion, an email would have created less suspicion than a pop-up on every web link that was opened. I did upgrade thru my online account. Maybe you can answer a question....Will this new modem be sent to my house or will I need to go to the local store to pick it up??? Will I need to send the older modem back?? If so, is a pre-paid label enclosed to do this???

Thanks

I think there were emails sent as well. Many people are not using their cox.net email accounts so this is just another tactic. I think it is being sent to your home & you do not need to return the old one. I will check & find out though.

I can't think of any new channels which I have heard about. There are a ton of rebrands going on. Those actual involve negotiation of carriage. So this includes Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, FXX & Esquire. Our launch focus is currently on the G8 & the new mobile app offering. The PVE (not official name) is a serious upgrade.

I never saw this notification or received and email. This last weekend I did however finally get around to calling in to swap back to my D-3 modem. When they couldn't at first because the system said is was already activated for someone I found out that it and my D-2 were both active on my account and I could have swapped them at any time. After hooking it up got a 4x4 connection (think It was only 4x2 before). My ping times seem a bit better, throughput hasn't changed much though. Did have one interesting event, my tuning adapter that would lose most of the channels if not hard reset every day has maintained the full channel list since putting the D-3 online. Admittedly this could have happened at some point before the modem swap as I wasn't watching it that close, but together it was a noted occurrence.

Just curious.....Was this delivered to your house or did have to go pick it up??? I ordered one online Monday of last week. I have sent Cox 2 emails asking about the status of the order and neither one has been answered. Trying to figure out how long it will take before I get mine.....Thanks

In the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, channel 896 only works on the Cisco boxes with the Trio guide not on the Motorola boxes with the Rovi guide.

The ESPN 3D channel is for 1GHz/H.264 receivers with Trio only.
