Possibly someone at Cox is confused, call the Loyalty or Retention department, or just call in and choose the option to cancel or reduce services and you should get the Loyalty or Retention department. If you have a grandfathered account Cox can apply all sorts of discounts and promos for 12 month periods. Newer accounts cannot get the same promos added to their account. A grandfathered account is one where you are still paying the Advanced TV fee per receiver, used to be called a Digital Gateway fee, currently the first one is free, so if you only have one receiver it may not show up on your bill.
The Bonus Pak used to be free for anyone with Expanded cable service and a digital receiver (STB or DVR)
The Bonus Pak is still free for anyone with a grandfathered account, (anyone still paying an Advanced TV fee per receiver, used to be called a Digital Gateway fee)
The Bonus Pak is now only included with one or more paid Digital Paks (Variety, Movie, Sports and Info Paks) except for grandfathered accounts.
Changing Equipment should never effect your Programming Package pricing, whether or not you have a grandfathered account.
As for the Record 6 DVR it is just $4.99/mo more than the standard DVR (assuming you already have a second STB, because it sounds like Cox will not allow stand-alone 6 Tuner DVRs at this point)
- To receive this equipment, there is an $8.50/month DVR receiver fee, (Same fee as a 2 Tuner DVR)
- plus a $14.99/month DVR service fee. ($4.99/mo more for the 6 Tuner DVR)
- This equipment also requires the DVR Plus Package for $10/month. (This fee is the "networking fee" and not for the actual Plus Pak channels, this fee did go up $5.00/mo in some markets, others were already at $10/mo)
IMHO - As for why Cox thinks they need to charge $10/month for a MoCA "networking fee" where there is nothing for them to maintain in the home, I think Cox has a very large investment into the Trio IPG which has not paid back any dividends yet and they have been working on this since 2009. They need to recoup some of those costs somehow.Edited by Bryan_CoxPHX - 7/30/13 at 8:00am
