Th-50phd7uy - Page 2

Matt, I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask, but lots of on here would be willing to do a "power buy" as a group on the 7UY when it comes out... Would VA be interested in setting up something like that? Based on reading the several threads going around about the 7UY I think there would easily be 10+ takers...
Oh yeah, I think there will be a lot more than 10 takers.
I'd like to be in on the power buy too, if the price is right.
I will be in the market around Feb 05 :-( (Bonus time) I hope the 7UY will be out by then and the price is right. Keeping my finger cross.
If the 7UY isn't out by February, I'll eat my shoe... not out of any sort of bet or the like, but simply out of frustration!

I've been pondering on whether to pull the trigger NOW for a 6UY or waiting for the 7. If the 7 doesn't come out before football season, I don't care how good it is...I'm not waiting. Does anyone have a shred of information at all as to an extremely tenative date compared to week 1?
It will be out LONG before February. I don't think anybody will dispute that.

I'm in the same position. Any day now Panny...
Besides info. on the 7 will drop the price on the 6:)

How are power buys usually arranged?

I know nothing can be done until the 7 series is announced, but I am curioius to find out what to do once an announcement has been made.

i would buy one from a power buy
Yes, I'd probably get one from a power buy too. Just thought I'd mention in case someone is counting. :)

Thanks,
Bruno.

I am willing to even accept wild guesses on a month of release as long as they are based on something...anything!

For that matter...do we even know if this dag-on thing is even coming out this year? Why would anyone say that...if there is no reason to believe so, Panasonic sure as he!! isn't giving us any reason now to think so!
has anyone been able to confirm that DVI (or HDMI) is included standard on the 7UY series? if i remember correctly the press release (which i can't seem to find anymore) said this would be the case.
A few websites have the Panasonic TH-42PXS30U, TH-50PXS30U, and TH-65PXS30U as "Coming Soon." These models are also listed as "Plasma Monitors" instead of TVs.

Does this mean that Panasonic changed their designation scheme and that these models are actually the next commercial models ("7UY")?

Or are these simply the next generation consumer models without speakers?

No confirmation yet(of course there hasn't really been confirmation of anything), but I'd be willing to bet the farm that there will be 1 or 2 standard HDMI inputs on the 7UY. Panasonic would look way behind the times if they didn't put HDMI on their new panels.
It seems the msrp on the s30 or 7uy has increased from the 6th gen's $7,500 to $8,500.

Arrgghhh. The wait is killing me. I am so ready to pull the trigger! Who's counting for the Powerbuy, anyway? I sure hope TVA and VA put together a Powerbuy for all us 7U holdouts!

Count me in for a '42, hopefully soon!:D

The wife gave the OK a few months back, The wait is killing me too. I have the HT all in place. I even installed the mount. Just waiting on the specs to run the wiring. (HDMI, DVI...) Steven
post #49 of 509
Stevies3 indicated: “I even installed the mount.â€

Stevies3, its great that you got the specs on the 7’s mount spacing and had a custom mount made. I remember so many people got upset that Panasonic, for the first time in years, changed the mounting specs for this year’s PX and PD models. Most of the old mounts do NOT work because the new back panel bulge.

This wait is absolutely KILLING me!!! I'm so tempted to just go ahead and buy a 6UY, but I know that as soon as I do they'll announce the 7UY and it will have some worthwhile improvements that I don't want to miss. Anyone else in the same boat?

Yes me. I am getting confused down here in Australia as Panasonic are just about to introduce this model

http://www.cnet.com.au/hometheatre/t...0000467,00.htm

I got really excited thinking it was the 7 series released down here before the US (mainly because of the 30 in the model number compared to your 25). I suspect it is just the consumer 6 series. It does not even have DVI or HDMI imputs.
The PV30's are the next model, with an A on the end for Australia or a U for the US. Ours will have HDMI inputs (like the 25) but I haven't heard about the Aussie version - don't know why it wouldn't though.

This is the model a salesman told me was going to retail for $10K here, but he didn't know when it was going to be released.

This is also the version that has also been released in Japan under PV300, and will most likely be the base for the 7UY.

Have you heard when the PV30 model will be released down under?
Hi thomopolis. The release is for next month.
I wonder when the US will have it.

I HAVE AN OFFICIAL rumor FROM PANASONIC!!

Last week I sent Panasonic a question on their website form, I told them my company was looking to buy a few plasmas for R&D and marketting (which actually is true) and I wanted them to get the 7UY if it comes out before they are ready to buy.

Today, a rep from Panasonic called me back. Really nice guy and told me that they were having a meeting mid September where he would be learning everything about the new models. Until then, he could only say there was a rumor that the 7UY would be out late Spetember to early October, and he wouldn't know all the specs and pricing until after the meeting.

So I actually learned pretty much nothing. I just thought it was really cool of him to bother to call, let me know they got the message and would respond as soon as they knew more.
Thanks thomopolis, that is very encouraging!
Nick
Thanks for the update, thomopolis. Hmmm.......late September and my birthday just happens to be the 26th. Sounds pretty good to me.
After reading that info from thomopolis, do you think they will be showing the 7uy's at CEDIA?
CEDIA runs to September 12th. The Panasonic rep didn't actually say his meeting was mid September, but rather September 15th. For some odd reason I was unsure about putting down something that specific here - what if he was full of it- but I think everyone here prefers to get their hopes up, then have them dashed rather than just never here anything.

Anyway, I would find it highly probable that Panasonic will use CEDIA to announce the new line, give the specs, and possibly release dates as well. The timing seems to coincide with all the tidbits everyone has been hearing.

I promised my wife I would hold off until we actually got the check for the sale of our house before buying a plasma. This will be coming at exactly the right time.

Please refer to this thread where some confusion over model numbers is sorted out.
