Sacramento, CA - Comcast - Page 134

I also don't have any issues with ESPN & ESPN2; the HD channels in the 7xx area are also quite good.

My only "problem" isn't with Comcast but ABC; don't know who made the decision but Diane Sawyer is always out of focus in the news segment; didn't notice it when she did the morning show. Interesting that when the camera is on the guest, it is sharp but becomes "soft focus" when on Diane Sawyer.

The grass is always greener on the other side; if you think it is better elsewhere & is able to switch, switch.

I went to zap2it and saw that the new channels were on their guide, but it wasn't on my Tivo or the Comcast site guide or the Tivo site guide, so I am guessing that all these sites update from Tribune once a day.

Following that hunch, I manually updated my Tivo and low and behold, the new channels showed up. I'm in the Stockton, CA area btw.

But what a mess! The old 900 channels that switched are still there, so they are in two places, AND at least half a dozen of the new HD channels are showing East coast guide information.

So for those who's Tivo's haven't updated, if you don't wanna wait until tomorrow, update your Tivo through the Network menu.

Hopefully enough people will respond to the shifted channel guide for them to fix it fairly quickly.

I'm seeing the new/updated channels on my SageTV DVR too, but none of them are tunable yet. I've reset my cablebox to no avail. I'm also in the Stockton, CA area.

Overnight I got the New Guide message, so theoretically we'll be getting the big A28 update starting on 6/30

I got the message here in Stockton. I assume this new guide equates to the A28 that's been mentioned around the forums.

766 - Cartoon Network HD
777 - BET HD
778 - CMT HD
781 - VH1 HD
782 - MTV HD
793 - Hallmark HD
794 - Hallmark Movie Channel HD

UPDATE: As of last Friday (6/25) these channels now show the correct schedule in the TiVo guide, so it's now safe to schedule shows to record on these channels.

Anybody get the A28 update yet? I haven't, I'm in the 95826.

This is the second time in a month that a Comcast message event turned out to be a dud. First was the analog shutdown, which did happen about a week after the specified date. We now know the June 30 new guide availability date means sometime between June 30 and the end of time.

I only had 3 channels showing east coast feeds after my lineup change and after putting in an online request to fix it over a week ago, I finally called TiVo today to check up and see why it's not fixed yet and the rep did something and asked me to reload the channel guide. So I'm crossing my fingers that it's going to be fixed.

Update: So I update my guide and no change. I call TiVo back and get the same guy who totally acts as if he isn't the person I talked to before. It's July 4th, so he's probably the only one working today. Now my incident report that was supposed to be resolved is being pushed forward another 4 days. Ridiculous. Someone totally dropped the ball here.

Which three channels are not showing up correctly in the guide?

Does your TiVo guide show the same listings as http://www.zap2it.com/ for those three channels (for your zip code)?

The channels are:

767 - NICKHD
768 - ABCFAMHD
769 - DISNHD

Disney got fixed yesterday. I check zap2it.com several times a day to see if they've fixed the issue and yesterday they had it fixed and so I did a manual TiVo update because I didn't want to wait for it to do it overnight, and the channel guide was corrected.

Here's what's going on. I call TiVo support, they (because it's all they know how to do) write up a support ticket and it gets sent to their mysterious "line-up" department. Their "line-up department" most likely tries to get a hold of Tribune Media to get them to correct the issue. So basically, from me to Tribune it has to go through at least 2 people. Too much room for error and ball dropping.

What sucks is that it's a simple issue of them switching the channel guide to a west coast feed. For example, when Disney HD got fixed yesterday, the call letters went from DISNHD to DISNHDP. I wish I could contact Tribune directly to get it fixed. I can't even talk to Tivo's lineup team because they "can't give out those numbers".

I know it's not Tivo's fault, but I've had to call twice and submit 3 support tickets, and each time they tell me it's going to take 5-7 business days. Fine. I can accept that, but they've given me resolve dates twice now and the issue wasn't resolved by those dates. PLUS, the guy I talked to on Sunday told me that if this didn't get resolved by Tuesday, I can call back and they would conference me in with the lineup team and expedite the issue. Now it's Thursday and the support guy I just talked to tells me that's not possible. They shouldn't promise me things that they can't hold up to. THAT'S why I'm upset.

chadwpalm, do NOT expect accurate lineups in the TiVo Program Guide for Comcast Sacramento until the final channel switch is completed on August 3, 2010. As such, I take the channel lineup on TiVo currently with a grain of salt.

Has anybody heard or read anything about if/when Comcast might switch BBC America to an HD feed? It's been available for over a year now...

My inlaws have a cabin in Twain Harte and have comcast as there are too many tree and no clear path for directv so what are the free QAM HD channels that the TV should tune?
they should get the locals. abc, nbc, pbs, cbs, fox, my network, and maybe cw.

What channels (actual tuned station numbers) are they located at?
curtishd, you can check what channels you can receive for ClearQAM/OTA and the channel numbers, just place your zip code in the search box at this link: http://www.silicondust.com/support/channels/

Which does remind me: is Comcast still scheduled to do the final channel changes on August 3, 2010 for the Sacramento area?

Where have you seen the 3rd as the date? I've not seen anything with a firm date on it...

At least 2 of our local stations have announced their moves to the 700 range for the 3rd. I have not seen anything definitive from comcast, but if the stations themselves are warning viewers...

Cool. I don't watch a lot of local TV stations, so it's no wonder I've missed it.

If I want to listen to tv on my surround sound system, do I switch the audio output from tv speakers to stereo or advanced?

If you're using a digital audio connection (HDMI, optical, coaxial) then those settings don't actually affect anything. Those only pertain to the analog audio output.

They've sent me at least three pieces of mail stating the cutover would finish on the 3rd. I have right in front of me a channel line up pamphlet (dated 5/10) that says:

XFINITY TV
Channel Lineup

Effective: August 3, 2010
Davis

Sorry guys, I never replied. They finally switched over my remaining 2 HD guides to west coast.....but I had to submit a request strait to Tribune for it to happen.

As I am sitting here watching TV right now, they switched all my remaining channels over 20 minutes ago. Aug 3rd, right on the dot.

Now I wonder how long it will take to get the new program guide this time around....

I talked with TiVo Customer Support last night and they are well-aware of the final changes on the channels in the Sacramento, CA area. They've passed the information to Tribune Media Services and hope to have an updated TiVo Program Guide by this Friday at latest.

I hope to later today mention what is the new channel arrangement for the HD channels from Channel 703 to 746 later today once all the infomercials stop showing.

I noticed that the volumes increases when I switch the audio output to tv speakers from stereo. My box is connected via HDMI to my tv & I have a toslink cable going to my stereo.

I played around with it last night since your question. From what I can tell the volume doesn't really increase for me, it pauses for a second when changing settings which makes it appear to be quieter for a second, but I couldn't decide if it really was or wasn't.

Either way you can just set it to Stereo and be done with it.

The sound over a digital connection is bit-streamed over, so those settings don't really have much if any effect on it.

According the wikibook on the Moto DVRs it isn't supposed to have any affect at all:

The pamphlet I have doesn't have a firm date on it from what I recall....

Anyway it's all moot since the deed is done, I checked this morning before work, and everything is nice and tidy under the 700s now just like the Bay Area's HD lineup.
