First thing this morning I had the issue at the headend. After logging into my multiplexer I found an unknown pid in the stream coming off the satellite receiver that was pretty big - bandwidth wise.
I've removed the program and moved to a spare input, totally remapping the channel and now everything looks normal. I'll keep a close watch on the channel today.
Thanks to all for your patience and for your valued input.
regarding the bolded section above... this just sounds wonderfully "sci-fi" to me ... an "unknown pid ... that was pretty big... remapping the channel and ... everything looks normal."
Should we add something in about dilithium crystals?
But on a more serious note, would it be a correct understanding then that some new channel showed up on your upstream feed, and that its bandwidth was having an adverse reaction on your existing channels? And in that case, wouldn't your multiplexers give priority to known streams over unknown streams?
