And there were people who knew what they were doing, albeit with a lot of blunders. The control room staff just needs time to work out the issues and get it to be second nature on how to work things.
the CBS news service clips look horrible stretched out to widescreen mode - too bad KRQE can't keep those in 4:3 with pillars.
the funny moment was an over-the-shoulder graphic exploding onto the screen right over Mike Powers face in the camera angle. Someone didn't tell the studio cameraguy on that story to put Mike's head to the right so the graphic would be positioned right.
Pillars of motion arcs and color streaks missed here, pillars of motion arcs and color streaks missed there, so some of the 4:3 local clips had black pillars.
Deanna looks very bad but it's not wrinkle related. I don't know if the makeup for HDTV is so different that it's not flattering to her.
so weird to see so much wasted space behind motor-mouth weathergal. Maybe they should put up a weather info pillar behind her to make use of that space and tell her to take a chill pill and slow down a little. No need to ramble fast through the weather, IMHO.
I do like the fixed overhead cam of the studio, looking down on the set and studio cameras.
I think I'll aircheck the 5:30pm newscast because it's fun to see the minor issues. It won't be very long before it all goes smoothly and without hitches.
