Is that midnight last night/early this morning or midnight tonight?

Are WKBN/WYTV/WYFX still up on Dish?

Finally got to this show on the DVR. I have surround sound. One segment was missing the center channel where all the dialog is.

Nothing new. Can't tell you how many times over the past numerous years (hint: I've lost count) that WKYC/WYTV has exhibited this issue.

Does anyone know the outpower of WKBN ? I used to receive them regularly, before they moved their DTV antenna further up the tower.I only receive them now during troppo conditions. I live in the Pittsburgh area and do receive WFMJ quite regular.

TV Fool shows it as 570 KW. Antenna Point says 700 KW. I know they are stronger than WFMJ, I would think you should get it. I pick up KDKA, WPXI and WPGH, and when things are right your channels 16,19, & 22.

Here are the links to tv fool and antenna point.

Yeah it's strange, I know I should receive WKBN regularly, instead of WFMJ, but when I received analog signals from these stations WFMJ always came in better.I have walked the entire roof with a 4228 antenna and haven't found that sweet spot for WKBN. Next I'll have to try a channel master signal amp, but that antenna is already heavy.

Thanks Trip for the information. Its nice to receive these tri state stations, as I like to see what weather conditions are coming my way, and get a different prospective of the news of their cities as opposed to the Pittsburgh news stations which do the news to death!

Well On this past friday I took down my antenna system and added a Channel Master 7777 pre amp thinking it would slightly improve my reception of WFMJ and WKBN . I lost the signal that I had, and was reduced to 1 bar flashing even at night.I thought during this mornings fog I would at least pick up some early morning reception-no chance nothing. That made my take down the whole thing and eliminate the 7777 altogether. Now WFMJ is showing signs of coming back, nothing yet with WKBN. I had been using the 7777 for my attic antenna for the past couple of years now with improved results. The setup on the roof has only a 25ft run of rg6 cable.

I can't believe it didn't help. I have the CM 4228 (the old style) with the CM 7777 amp and I get cleveland, pittsburgh, erie, and stubanville stations. I did have a problem one time with the balum (went bad) but I changed it and it's been fine. I know the new 4228 doesn't need the balum.

I can believe it because dxernut lists his location as West Mifflin. That's probably too close to a number of Pittsburgh TV and FM stations to use the CM 7777 with an outdoor antenna.

Yeah I have the old style 4228 and I agree it is a great antenna, although heavy. I remover the 7777 amp and now I receive WFMJ early morn and late at night. 1 morning even received WKBN.

How long is WFJM 21 be off the air for Dish Network ....
The news on 21 WFMJ is FINALLY in HD!
I know! I caught it yesterday at 6 PM, but they didn't say anything about it on air, so I'm not sure if it happened at 6 or if their Mid-day and WFMJ Today broadcasts were the first. It's definitely about time, but I have to say the graphics and video quality look amazing. Makes it clear that even though 27.1 is broadcasting a 1080i carrier, it is still a 720p production.

About time! I no longer live in the area so curious if anyone can provide a screenshot or two or even a video clip? Very curious to see the improvement!

It's too bad that the sound is still screwed up! It's still surging up and down all the time. RIDICULOUS!!

Very nice. Still seems kinda on the bland side and needs a bit more work, but given this much outdated upgrade is in place is a welcome sight. Even prior to this it seemed like the SD upconvert was especially bad even for SD. Granted, youtube doesn't help much either. Thinking next time I go up to visit I am dragging my laptop along and capping some clean screenshots.
Yeah it would be nice to see. Since the cold weather I havent been able to pick them up. Did they change the set any?
I'll actually be up that way visiting family over Christmas so I will try to pull some screencaps and video clips.

They painted parts of the set a while ago. They're also using virtual sets for their national news and health segments.

I posted this in the Cleveland OTA thread..Thought it would be of interest here as well..

"Here's something I thought might be of interest. WEWS-TV 5's Video Vault on it's website has posted a very rare 1953 Documentary called RIGHT BEFORE YOUR EYES. It is a history of Cleveland Television up to October, 1953..The 20-minute documentary covers:

Planned power increases for all Cleveland VHF Stations, along with Channel 4 moving to 3 and 9 moving to 8

Progress of Youngstown Channels 27 and 73(later 21)

Progress of Ashtabula Channel 15

Progress of Akron Channel 49

Planned stations on Channels 19 and 65 for Cleveland and 23 for Massillon-Canton..

There is also vintage film of city skylines, as well as some film of programs in progress at each station already on the air..

This is about as old a complete program you'll find locally..Fascinatng..

has anyone noticed a considerable framerate issue with WKBN HD and WYFX HD? They both seems to be coming through at an unnatural frame rate.
