Baton Rouge, LA - HDTV - Page 87

Not that i agree with cutting off the credits, but it is one thing to cut off the credits, or even the previews to next week, but to cut off the end of a 2 hour show, and House at that! We are not talking about the juicemaster at 2 am. This is primetime network programming.
And because i quickly flipped to Fox8 new orleans and saw the ending and the previews and the credits, even the "bad hat harry", i know it wasnt a national thing, but a FOX44 thing.

Add one more SEC game affiliate in HD this weekend as Fox 44 CE announced on the Lafayette forum that this Saturdays game between LSU and MS State will be broadcast in HD on KADN Fox 15 Lafayette.

Thanks to Fox 44 CE and KADN for making the commitment to air LSU football and future weekly SEC games in HD!

Geaux Tigers!

Hope it is in HD on WAFB. Who's carrying the SEC Network in New Orleans? Hopefully someone between BR and NO will carry it in HD.

The guide shows the lsu game on WWL tv Channel 4 new Orleans
and WAFB Baton rouge. Now the channel 4 guide doesnt show HD, where the other college game on channel 4 does. That doesnt mean anything, but i would have rather it said HD

I have a question for those of you using Cox HD with Cox's box. I just got an HD tv and am getting the digital box and HD service from Cox tomorrow. Is it required to use the Cox remote or is there some way I can use my TV's remote? I can't stand my parents' Cox remote, but if that's what I have to use... oh well. Anyone know of any work-arounds?

I believe the LSU game is part of the SEC package produced by the SEC that wasn't broadcast on WWL-TV in HD last week. The other SEC game is produced nationally by CBS Sports, which of course is in HD. If WAFB broadcast the North Texas/Alabama in HD last week, then it'll probably be shown that way this week. If they didn't, then...oh well.

Any decent universal remote will work, any decent TV's remote with uni/multi-device support should work. But it probably won't control the advanced STB functions.

The game, from the looks of the pre-game show, will be in HD on WWL-TV.

Yep, in HD on WWL. Can't lock WAFB's low power signal so I don't know about them.
It was in HD on WAFB.

Finally had a chance to put the CM4228 up. Half it up about halfway and eyeballed point towards the BR tower area. I'm no longer in the RF black hole!

I picked up WAFB around 80% Of course I snagged the other BR locals. WBRZ 100%, WLPB 100%, WGMB 100%, WVLA 90%. KZUP and WBRL come in around 80%, but neither of them have audio. KZUP used to have audio over a month ago, but now it does not. WBRL still has the no audio.

I also snagged KADN, KLFY, and KATC and I haven't even tweaked the antenna!

I'm currently in a hotel on Siegen Lane next to I-10 in BR. No problem getting WAFB on RF9, but the signal is considerably weaker than WBRZ on RF13 and antenna aiming is much more critical. They need to, at least, quadruple power or move back to UHF.

No problem getting audio on WBRL and KZUP with my Pinnacle mini USB stick. The problem must be an issue with your TV, (firmware revision, etc.)

Glad you finally got moved in and set up.

I'm using a Dish722 DVR for the OTA tuner. Not sure what is different about KZUP and WBRL, but the Dish receiver doesn't like it.

Not totally moved in, knocking down one project at a time. I still don't have my A/V rack setup yet, KU dish, etc. Never realized how crappy things sound on TV speakers

I just sent Trip a new sete of Baton Rouge captures. I noticed that KZUP and WBRL are both transmitting an incorrect TSID of 1. I wonder if that might be causing your audio problem for some reason.

Also KLWB is transmitting a TSID of zero.

Just posted the new data. Thanks.

I still don't see anything that stands out as wrong enough to cause audio to be missing with the WBRL-CA feed.

Is WBRL still showing 1440x1080? I don't remember if that was corrected. EDIT: Yep, I see in the data it was.

I was able to snag KLWB...think it came in as 50.x...those 3 subchannels all had audio.
Trip, I was able to snag WMAU in my area. I don't have my HTPC setup right now but as soon as I do I'll get you a TSReader file of it.
Awesome.

I currently have 1337 TSReader captures.

WBRL & KZUP have no TSID value assigned on the FCC Master TSID Tables.
I recall hearing that LP and CA stations could request to have a TSID assigned to them. I know there are some receivers that like having a valid TSID of some kind, so it might be worth looking into.

And it seems the Dish Network OTA tuners are really picky apparently. I know Dennispap also reported seeing no audio on KZUP. But the weird part is, KZUP worked fine when it was first flash cut to digital.
Correct. I had audio at first but it has been gone for a while.
As of last night still No audio on kzup ota thru my dish 722 receiver

Thanks for the clarification. I thought that the TSID was incorrect since most new encoders are shipped with a default setting of 0 or 1. The first valid TSID is 2.

KLWB is a full power station and must transmit a valid TSID. I wonder what their excuse is.

Actually a lot of those scan in differently now... they have them mapped to the 700's like their digital cable boxes. I even noticed they are feeding guide info now on some of them.

Last night Jimmy Kimmel was delayed due to local football shows in both BR and NO. Of course, new orleans abc26 had to then show it in SD, but baton Rouge WBRZ did show it delayed in HD! Props to WBRZ, boos to WGNO

And boos to KATC Lafayette that airs Frasier @ 10:35pm and has NEVER shown Nightline or Kimmel in HD.

Boos, also for KLFY never showing Late Late Show HD after Letterman.

Not counting the hd issue, i think the networks ought to crack down on affiliates that dont show their national lineup when it actually airs. You dont want to show letterman @ 10:30, you cant be a cbs affiliate. No nightline @ 10:30, no abc affiliate. Let them lose their affiliation then they can show frasier or judge judy m-f from 7-10pm, see how that goes over.

Totally agree. That also goes for showing true HD broadcasts in SD.

That's not going to fly... there are some stations that are SD only. Some are dual affiliates on one channel where say the CBS is HD but they added NBC later down the line as an SD subchannel.
