Anyone else getting fox44 OTA?

WGMB is off the air due to extensive transmission line repair requiring cleaning of soot from the entire 1800 foot run of transmission line to prevent further damage.

How's the repair coming? When is the estimate WGMB will be back up? Charter needs 44.2 to get WBRL here in Assumption parish.

The last report I had says that the crews have worked their way through about 500 feet of line from the top down an indications are that the entire run will need to be cleaned and upwards of 75 connector springs (bullets) will need to be replaced. Parts have arrived on site and completion will be no earlier than this weekend as of now.

Assuming the weather holds the tower crews should complete repairs today and WGMB should return to full power on-air operation sometime this evening.

Thanks for keeping us updated on things. I'm itching to return my FOX timers back to OTA

Still off air here. Anyone else picking up ota?

I currently live in Denham and have a very nice HD setup with DishNetwork...I will however be moving into an area of Denham over the next month that offers UVerse...I just want to know if anyone has it or has compared it to Dish, and would it be worth it to change....Prices are about the same, so picture quality would be the worry...Only running the one HDTV on it...

I've heard the picture quality is horrible on HD and you can only stream 2 HD streams at once.

Even with my only one HDTV, I record 3 HD streams at one time on my DishNetwork DVR more than 2-3 days out of the week.

If you can handle only the two streams, I'd try it out and see how it works and run them side by side and compare which one takes a hike.

Cleaning of the transmission line was completed yesterday.
Analyzer showed anomalies at three locations 700ft,1400ft,1450ft.
Inspection showed water accumulating in the inner conductor insulators.
Cracked flanges due to hurricane force winds need to be repaired.
The line is being dried out with nitrogen today.

As always... the detailed updates are appreciated.

Fox44 came back on the air this evening but at reduced power.
Normally i get them at 99-100% but they were only coming in in the low 70's.
At least that is a good start
Both are around 90 here. I know WVLA used to be 100% since they fixed it but now it's back down to 90%.
When is This TV returning to 33.2?
Probably when they get the antenna totally fixed. They are broadcasting fox44 on 33.2 for now while they fix the problems.

Right now wgmb fox44 is@79% and nbc33 is@84%.

Everyone better check their timers as tonights episode doesnt show as a "new" episode, as the listing shows the girls, which was supposed to be broadcast last night. If you have them set for NEW it wont record.
This is from my Dishnetwork/tribune info.

Seems like you should set it to ALL anyways... there aren't reruns Thanks for the heads up. I checked mine for the girls in the house and it was set to ALL.

I used to have it to all but fox44 used to show american idol redux (some kind of recap show from years past) on the weekends and it was recording those also.

I'm not picking on WVLA -- our friendly poster Fox44CE has had enough recent drama swapping out a third of a mile of transmission line -- but I had to chuckle at today's news story about a cable "transporter" taking out 33's feed this morning. Perhaps Cox could have used a "patch cable" to plug in an alternate feed from an OTA "TV set"? Just sayin...

Cox subscribers who switched on their TVs this morning to catch the Today show were surprised to find the local NBC affiliate was off the air. For nearly two hours, between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., WVLA NBC-33 and its sister station, WGMB FOX-44, were off the cable airwaves due to a technical issue on Cox's end. Ann Ruble, a Cox spokeswoman, says a transporterthe electronic device that carries a station's signal from its transmitter to Cox'smalfunctioned, causing the cable company to lose the WVLA/WGMB signal. The transporter has been replaced and upgraded to include a backup component, which Ruble says is designed to prevent such outages in the future.

Anyone notice on the WBRZ news that the live shots from the LSU baseball stadium were in HD? They had another live shot from Livingston parish in SD, night and day difference.
No, but i noticed that channel 19 ota thru my dish receiver still doesnt have any audio
Not that i watch it anyway, but it is sort of hard to potentially watch any station that doesnt have audio

We have been working with DirectTV and Echostar on issue that they have been having with interruptions of audio on their up links and OTA set-top tuners.

Our research has shown that both have problems with decoding audio when the stream has a large number of null packets.

Unfortunately due to the method we are using to multiplex the WBRL-HD and KZUP-SD streams on the digital STL, both have a significant amount of null packets OTA.

This does not appear to effect the majority of TV 8VSB tuners but does effect the set-tops of both DirectTV and Dish Network.

To correct this issue we would need to decode and re-encode both stations at the transmitter site.

The equipment to accomplish this is extremely expensive.

What's weird is 19 had audio on it for the first few weeks after the digital flash cut. 21 had no audio from the start.

Seems like the they need to figure out what is messing up their OTA tuner and update instead of the other way around with you guys trying to patch it.
