I prefer the squareshooter from Wineguard. Aim it in the direction of the towers and you should be sucessful (with a little time). Just make sure you get it up high enough and without interference of buildings, etc. You will have more success mounting it outside rather than in your attic - no doubt.
The great thing about the Squareshooter is that it resembles a dish (grey, plastic and relatively small) but in the shape of a square (obviously). So it isn't as ugly as those big metal things.

One other thing - PBS will come in like a charm. The others take a lot of work (and patience) to get them. For starters, visit antennaweb to find out where the towers are located in regards to your home.
