I haven't watched "Tru Calling," so I am not too worked up over this news; however, I would offer this to cheer you up: Fox is not ABC.

ABC is notorious for bagging their best and most innovative programs. For example, they canned "Police Squad!" after six eps because the producers refused to add a laugh track. They nixed "Twin Peaks" after a second-season cliffhanger, because the show did not support casual viewing. And, as you mentioned, they dumped "Karen Sisco" quite unceremoniously. Fox doesn't have that kind of track record. If they say Tru will premiere later in the season, I think they intend to follow through with that.

I couldn't agree more.

I like the show, one of the few non-reality shows that the whole family likes. Delay doesn't bother me - probably a January start along with 24.

I really like this show a lot. Don't really care when they start showing it again - as long as they eventually do.

Agreed!! "Trul Calling" however is (now) one of the few shows I even watch on FOX, and basically only one of two ("Arrested Development") that makes me really care if my local FOX affiliate goes HD.

We enjoyed they show. It held our interest. At least we'll have something later in the year to watch. Of course, if any of the current shows tank, Tru might be moved up. Can't imagine all this garbage "surviving".

If Tru Calling does go under, that would release Eliza to do a Buffy spinoff. :)

Spoilerized in case some haven't seen the last season of BtVS.

OT but the way it worked out with FG is probably the only way it was going to get popular . . . it is coming back you know with new episodes?

I cannot believe FOX may do it to us again. They dropped John Doe after one season, with a cliffhanger heading and may be doing the same to Tru! This is after not giving Wonderfalls or Firefly (and several years back, Harsh Realm) much time to catch on.

Why do they do this? Oh yeah, so they can add more stupid reality shows! I cannot wait to see their next one: Who wants to marry my swapped wife's renovated complex's love cruise to Paradise on temptation island?

Various Issues Holding Up New Seasons of FOX's 'Tru Calling,' USA's 'The 4,400'
By Brian Ford Sullivan

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Sometime during 2005 both FOX's "Tru Calling" and USA's "The 4,400" are expected to return for second seasons. The paths both series are facing to get there however are widely different.

****SNIPPED..use above link for full article****

Meanwhile as for "Tru Calling," the decision by FOX yesterday to postpone the show's second season launch on November 4 has exposed some serious issues about the series' future. Originally given a 13-episode order for its second season, industry insiders say the network may halt production once work completes on its sixth episode. The reason however isn't a creative one (FOX reportedly likes the direction the show is taking for its new season), but rather like most TV-related decisions, an economic one.

With a hefty midseason roster that includes over a dozen series - such as dramas "Athens," "The Inside," "Point Pleasant," "Johnny Zero" and season four of "24"; comedies "American Dad," "Related by Family" and "The Sketch Show"; new reality projects "Hell's Kitchen" and "Nanny 911" not to mention fresh seasons of "American Idol" and "The Simple Life" - the network is undoubtedly looking to cut back on some of its commitments. And with "Tru" being at best a modest success for FOX, the odds are much higher for one of its new dramatic entries to succeed than to go to bat again with the middling "Tru."

No formal decision has been made about rolling back the show's 13-episode order nor has producer 20th Century Fox Television or Original Television commented on the possibility. The pair are also behind "Point Pleasant" on the network.

********************************

Point Pleasant is the only new show i'm looking forward to this year other than CSI:NY..this show hadn't been ordered until a few days ago

for those unfamiliar with the premise here it is..

drama described as a cross between "peyton place" and "the omen" that takes place in a town shaken one summer when a mysterious girl washes ashore (elisabeth harnois)

there's also some information on the 4400 for those interested;another good series that aired this summer...it was a smash hit for USA.

We can only hope.

How do network execs expect a show to be an economic hit when they keep moving it around etc etc?

Eliza Dushku is tremendously attractive in a unique way that sets her apart from many of the Hollywood standards. And Tru Calling is my favorite Fox show still remaining. I was very much looking forward to it in HD.

I still think of her as Anold's daughter in "True Lies" and she will always be that.
