2.In order to get the best display for your HDTV, press the Settings button on your iO TVĀ® remote twice to get to the General Settings menu.
3.Use the up or down arrow key and highlight Set: Picture Format. Arrow to the right, and scroll to 1920x1080i Normal or 1280x720p Normal.
4.Select the A button (yellow triangle) on your iO TV remote to accept the changes, and then select Exit on the remote to exit from the settings menu.

Thanks. Unfortunately I have the SA DVR box which only offers upconvert 1 or2, pass through or fixed (I keep it on pass through). I think there is a way to get to an advanced setup menu by resetting the box. Not sure though.

if you set it to fixed then under quick settings (hit settings once) you will have option to change Picture format on the sa dvr box

I wanted to watch the game on NHL Network, but oh yeah, I forgot that NHLN is out 95% of the time! And this has been going on (Channel Not Available messages on NHLN/BTN/League Pass/Center Ice), for what, four years now? Unreal.

Is there a general consensus as to what the optimal settings under the advanced setup and on the options menu are? I have a SA DVR and a 1080p plasma. Thanks.

I've been working with Cablevision off/on for the past year, starting through the yahoo forum. Wilt has had his people come one several times to check out everything from the signals into our house, the boxes, etc. They have swapped out cables, swapped out boxes, splitters, etc but the problem eventually comes back. I emailed Wilt that I can't keep having CV come out to our house, but rather I'll wait for CV to go all digital (Morris Co) and see if that resolves it (it's supposed to from what I read). Unfortunately there is no ETA on when my system is going to be all digital

NorthJersey: I was told by a tech a few weeks ago then by the end of May/early June supposedely is when Morris County is supposed to go all digital. Who knows how accurate that really is though.

Strange that I'm also in the Morris County system as I'm in Lake Hopatcong/Jefferson Township and rarely experience any issue with the Switched Digital Video (SDV) channels like NHL Network. Doesn't matter what time of day it always come up for me.

i find setting box to fixed and 1080i works best for me
this way there is no delay when switching between channels with different formats
ie - cbs 1080i and fox 720p

Does anyone know if Cablevision is cropping BBC World News, or if it's originating in this mode now? The cropping is killing me, as I'm used to the previous, proper aspect ratio. Why doesn't Cablevision request the 16:9 SD feed?

It is here. If you don't see letterboxing, it's being cropped. This only started a few days ago.

They posted the new package names and rates with the CT PURA on Friday. There
are no details of what the new packages are made up of though and their website
hasn't been updated yet.

Effective Tuesday, March 27, 2012, Cablevision will launch five (5) new video
programming packages that will be available to both new and existing Cablevision
customers. Customers that subscribe to existing video packages will not be
affected by this change; these customers may retain their current video package
and pricing. New customers or existing customers wishing to change their video
package must subscribe to one of the new packages.

iO Gold (New package)109.95
iO Gold (No longer offered, grandfathered customers only)103.95
iO Silver (New package)89.95
iO Silver (No longer offered, grandfathered customers only)83.95
iO Preferred (New package)74.95
iO Value (New Package)64.95
Family (No longer offered, grandfathered customers only)58.95
iO Economy (New package)39.95
Broadcast Basic - price varies by system
All package prices include a subscription to Broadcast Basic
iO Package(No longer offered, grandfathered customers only)11.95
iO Sports Pack 6.95

Here is the link to the new packages
»www.optimum.com/new-packages.jsp

iO Gold now includes the Sports Pak
iO Silver now includes HBO, Showtime and Starz
iO Prefered includes Encore
iO Value replaces family cable and has some iO package channels
iO Economy doesn't have sports channels and many other channels but,
"This package is only available in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Connecticut and Long Island areas of Great Neck, Islip, Lynbrook, Western Nassau, and Woodury."

Basically, Cablevision has hiked prices $6 for customers choosing to abandon "Family + iO" once their triple day deal expires. Coupling this with the mandatory set top box rentals, this represents a huge price increase for customers with zero benefit. The "iO Essentials" is laughably worthless, and looks to be quite a profitable tier for Cablevision. It reminds me of Time Warner Cable's $5 discount for customers utilizing less than 5GB/month (1GB is said to cost $0.01 currently).

Really? iO is $11.95 currently. They made iO a part of every package at a premium of about $6. They removed iO being optional is all. But, it costs less than adding iO currently. They have given other options that didn't previously exist, for less money, which may be preferred in some households that are okay with those channel lineups. Yes, the numbers have gone up, but what you are getting for it is different from current. And now if you just want some channels, and not all, you have a package that may suit you.

Now, what we can gripe about is no increase in broadband speed in a long time. No mention of lower price option for broadband.

You're not forced to take a new package, you can stay with what you have. The price for the existing packages are not changing.
They added a little something into each of the new packages to justify the new prices, if you see value in the new packages over what you currently have then you can switch. For example the replacement for Family plus iO now includes the Encore channels for the extra $6. The new iO Silver now includes HBO and HBO on demand for the extra $6. The new iO Gold now includes the Sports Pak and HBO and Cinemax on demand for the extra $6.

The current triple play is "Family + iO". What if you don't want the iO package after the triple play ends? Will Cablevision allow those subs to keep Family Cable by itself? The iO Tier, as well as the Starz/Encore Networks are not worth any price IMO. Unless you fancy seeing Lucy Lawless naked (a sight to still behold), it's useless as are the iO Channels (G4? Ugh!).

Hi Remy, been a while.

I saw on that link where the new Silver package includes Showtime along with HBO and Starz but when I went to the upgrade channel (902 it said I was already subscribed. Also, when to my own account on-line, it listed (effective March 27) Showtime replacing HBO.

Are these new packages available for current customers only? For $6.95 more I'd add on showtime but not for $11.95.

Joe

You can't order the new packages until 3/27.

Effective Wednesday, March 21, 2012, Cablevision will launch WCCT in High Definition (HD), an affiliate of the CW Television Network in the Bridgeport, New Haven and Norwalk systems. WCCT HD is a simulcast of the WCCT CW (SD) counterpart. WCCT HD will launch on channel 695 and will be available to customers in the Broadcast Basic Package.

Hey guys, I've got a question for you and I'd appreciate some objective thoughts.

I've been with FIOS since they've been available in my area and I may be moving to an area not serviced by FIOS.

I've had Cablevision in the past and was wondering how their PQ is these days and how it might compare to Directv? Is there significant macroblocking with fast motion? How's the picture detail?

some channel do have macroblocking
cv still has many channels 4 per qam
a few 3 per qam
and the sports and locals 2 per qam
i use to keep a spreedsheet but have not updated it lately

i am still on a hybrid system (analog and digital) so i can't speak for all digital systems
