New York, NY - Cablevision - Page 33

In my private community we also have CHE but its lineup and picture quality does not match that of Cablevision; nor do they offer HD, DVR or the YES network. So for a baseball fan, CHE is not even an alternate solution.

Of course, it is common practice in negotiations to hold out till the last minute, however, it would be naive to believe Cablevision has anything more than a business concern regarding its subscribers. I'm sure whatever has been offered would reap nice profits for both parties but it seems maximum profit is the name of the game. The Dolans understand they are in a better negotiating position since the Mets have more to lose with little television revenue and know fallout with subscribers would be minimal due to its virtual monopoly.

We all know if multiple franchises were awarded somehow would would be watching SNY at this time. But like always, city hall and big business work hand in hand and as always, it is us who are getting the shaft.

Does anyone have a signal booster in their house and if so did you get it from Cablevision or did you buy it yourself. I had to extend the RG6 cable to my bedroom and now Im having signal issues...any info would be appreciated...

Signal Amp:

had the same trouble as you when I switched to HD. Was getting weak signal upstairs in sons room. Replaced as much as I could of rg59 with rg6. CV ran new rg6 from pole to main splitter. You can buy it yourself from CV store.. Here is the one tech put in my basement for run upstairs..http://www.antronix.net/Products/cat...amplifiers&i=5

I have the ARA model, 1 output, plugs into wall outlet for power, no problem after that. Hope this helps and good luck..

Thanks for your help...I looked at the cablevision store and couldnt find it...I bought an RCA model today at Best Buy and it has been an improvement...

Do you think an antronix unit will be an even bigger improvement??

CHE, so i assume your in co-op city also. Just read in the Co-op city times that SNY will be comming to CHE so take that for what its worth. BY the way in CHE's digital package you will get everything cv offers out side of YES and and HD channels and maybe a few west coast feeds of movie channels. I haven't seen the picture quality of there digital channels but CV's quality isn't very great ether.

New Channel in Oakland lineup.

WFME as of 4/18 on ch 18. Digital guide moves to CH 79. Anyone know what this channel is? Sounds like another 'member sponsored' NJN channel, or some Spanish channel..

From what I saw on line, WFME is another educational station in the New York City area, currently operating on UHF channel 28.

Hi Neighbor,

Well, that's good news that SNY is signing with the smaller providers because I read most were holding out until a deal with Cablevision was reached.

BTW - Have not noticed CHE advertising services like DVR and interactive channels and am not sure if as many music channels are offered as well (they also cannot provide NY1, News 12 the Bronx or the 24 hour local traffic/weather channel). When I upgraded to HD I noticed an improvement ondigital stations with a HD box connected via HDMI as opposed to using s-video.

Read a few months back that TIVO was going to be offered by Cablevision to new subscribers as an alternative to the SA units.
Anybody heard any solid info on this topic or whether they are in limited release?
They were offering a Series 2 Tivo as part of a switch from satellite. You need to call to see if it's still available. Just be aware it's just a stand alone single tuner Tivo.

Perhaps we can use the new series 3 TiVo??

Dual tuner, cablecard...sweet....I love TiVo and miss it for everyday use since I started using Cablevision for my HD content..

Place a service call and let Cablevision provide the amp. I had probelms for weeks with my signal breaking up. The tech installed an amp and I have been fine.

Best to let cablevision do it properly. With a previous provider I used my own 10db booster and it cleaned up some stations but caused interference on others that had no problem before.

Once or twice an hour, usually when watching NBC on HD (channel 704 in my system), the picture will disappear for about 1 second and a blank gray screen appears in its place. It rarely (or maybe even never) happens on other HD channels and never on SD channels. Does anyone else have this problem?
I hope this is the correct forum to post this question..

Im having a sound issue with all American Idol in HD on Fox.
Im on Cablevision in NJ and I seem to have this problem only with American Idol.

The sound is just very low. I seem to only be getting audio from the front left right and center channel speakers. Even with that i have to turn my reciever up into the 50s to get it loud enough to hear when the contestants are being interviewed. I would like to think that a show all about music would carry the audio out to all five speakers on my home theater but messing around with the settings doesnt seem to work. I am no audiophile by any definition, but I know a little about what Im doing. My problem only occurs with this show so Im confused. Actually, when this show goes to commercial I have to turn down the volume because the audio of any commercial comes blasting loud through all 5 speakers during the commercial breaks. When AI comes back on i have to turn it up to hear the songs. That kinda sucks.

I hear all my other channels and shows through all 5 speakers in my current setup. AI seems very low audio and only in 2channel. The commercials during the broadcast are loud and in surround sound.. so Im assuming its the broadcast of the AI show that is quirky and not my setup. What am I missing?

BTW. this is my first season watchin AI and I was never really into the show at all. But its grown on me and it would be even better if I didnt have this issue with the sound. Am I crazy or is the ausio just off for the show on Cablevision in NJ? What might I be doing wrong?

When setting the 4200HD, is it necessary to turn on all of the signal types (480i, 720p, and the wide option), or just set the 1080i. I have the Sony SXRD which is 1080i compatable. Thanks

Have you checked your settings via the Cablevision remote on audio? I recently experienced the same thing and realized I had changed the audio setting from "narrow" to "wide" and the volume was lower even though I had the volume set higher.

Worth a look if you haven't.

ESPN2HD has be around for a while now. Just not on Cablevision.

I did an autoscan of my cable plugged directly into my Toshiba 46HM95 and it's only picking up hi-def channels 702 and 713. What could be wrong? The 4200HD I also have finds all the HD channels no problem, as well as my Fusion HD card on my PC.
Is anyone else having a similar issue?

Two networks on 1 channel? I know SNY HD is only part time, but does that mean when there are games on SNY HD we won't have INHD2? Not that it matters I guess, when the Mets are on that's what I'll be watching anyway!

Pretty much thats the way it will work. Honestly I don't think any rsn should have a 24x7 HD feed unless there going to do more than just games in HD. Sadly SNY-HD will be going jsut that but they won't get a 24x7 feed yet MSG & FSNY do. Go figure.
