on Bounce TV the guide is off by an hour right now. This is on 3 different things
-guide on the 42" plasma
-guide on the 32" AOC
-guide on the DTV Pal

so as example Soul Train is on at 5:00 and Fat Albert is on at 6 CDT but the guide shifts it an hour. So at 6:00 it says Soul Train
post #1712 of 2124
Both my Vizio's PSIP guide show Soul Train on at 5pm which it is....Are you sure your TVs are setup for the correct time zone? I know when mine gets off programming times are off.
I wonder if Tivo/Tribune will add Bounce? I've given up on TVGOS ever updating anything mad.gif They still haven't added Livewell or even AntennaTV rolleyes.gif

Well, Tribune did add Livewell to Zap2it and Tivo, but 29-2 is still messed up, so who knows if/when they'll add Bounce. I'm not holding my breath... I'd love to know the real story behind why Tribune is so slow and inconsistent with OTA listings and updates.

Here's more information on Tomorrow's upgrade of 2-3 TPT Life, including the following:
Quote:
Due to the transition to HD, tpt LIFE will be going off the air in the early morning hours of October 1 – starting at 1 a.m. to approximately 5 a.m., depending on how quickly the upgrade goes.
Looks Like TPT has decided to air TPT Life in 1080i !biggrin.gif My TV's not getting any EPG data currently, but I'm sure that'll be included soon enough. Can't wait to see some PBS HD content broadcast at full resolution without any bits being gobbled up by other channels. I'm sure it'll bring back memories of the old undiluted PBSHD feed that used to be on 1-1 cool.gif (To those new to the local OTA scene, there really was a channel 1-1 for a while roughly a decade ago.)

Edit: My TV's getting EPG data now.

yup showing in 1080i....looks like the SD channel (that satellite uses as 17) is just chopping the sides off
post #1718 of 2124
Some of the stuff is up-converted SD, some is full HD. Depends on the show. Either way, it beats the heck out of what we had before. So far the 4:3 SD stuff I've seen has been shown in proper aspect with bars on the sides.
it will be nice though to see replays of stuff in HD on there.
Once in a while if I miss something on 2 it sucked seeing it on 17 (2-3) but in SD
post #1720 of 2124
Also some musical programs(live from the artists den, I believe) was only shown on SD Life, I refused to watch something I knew was shot in good HD on a SD channel like Life. I look forward to it smile.gif
So what channels are on what channel now? Sounds like 2.1 is by itself? Does that mean everything else including MDTV is with the HD Life channel?

edit:
2.1 TPT HD ch 34
2.2 MN SD ch 34
2.3 Life HD ch 23
2.4 Wx SD ch 34
MDTV SD ch??

nothing changed. The RF channels are still the same

RF23 has TPTLIfe (2-3), the 2nd copy of MN channel (23-7 if your TV does that) and the 2 "UpdateTV" thingys
RF34 has TPT, TPT MN and TPT WX (2-1, 2-2, 2-4)

New Scandinavian Cooking is currently being broadcast in postage stamp format rolleyes.gif sure it may be a letterboxed SD source but I don't see why KTCA can't zoom it to fit the frame confused.gif
unclehonkey, isn't KTCA currently using MDTV? if so that can use a fair bit of bandwidth too.
not that I see (using rabbitears site only ABC, NBC and Fox use it (with My coming soon)

Interesting. I'm pretty sure at one time TPT was planning on having a MDTV channel......must not have panned out confused.gif
Kudos to Trip, he already shows KTCI as HD cool.gif
If I ever see something simulcast on Life and TPT2 I'll record it on my Tivo, then I'll then look at the file size, I'd be interested to see if Life was larger than TPT2.
It's interesting that the listing information at titantv.com has removed 23-2 and added 29-3, while Tribune's information at Zap2it.com still shows 23-2 and is missing 29-3. Too bad Windows, TVGOS and Tivo don't use Titan's data!mad.gif
post #1726 of 2124
TPT has their Mobile TV service piggybacked on the KSTP Mobile feed. Currently KSTP transmits 3 identical channels of their main ABC feed and a mobile version of KTCA.

Now if they can just get some end user equipment out into the market place, we will be all set!
TPT is currently down for tower maintenance again.
back up now
Looks like Tribune has finally realized that 23-2 no longer exists and have removed it from their listings at zap2it. I wonder how much longer it will take them to discover that 29-3 has been added.rolleyes.gif
post #1731 of 2124
Well, I know that I need to do some re-scans again. It takes a little while for me, since I have a number of ATSC tuners around. Some are converter boxes and others are internal to TVs. With the weather turning cooler, that might be a project on a day off soon. There is no big hurry, but I should do it pretty soon. I sort of wonder how often "Joe Average" does a re-scan. I suspect not very often. Probably never in many cases. If you regularly tune just a few local channels, but occasionally scan through the others, there is a good chance that you will be totally unaware of other channels (sub-channels) coming and going.

I agree but at least most of my newer TVs don't seem to require a rescan when sub channels are added, only when major things are done to the channel lineup. Others like my older Vizio or Panasonic need a rescan whenever anything is changed frown.gif

both my 5 year old Panny plasma and my 3 year old AOC TV automatically update when a subchannel is added or removed. When CoolTV left I was on 23-3 and it updated on both
When BounceTV was added I just turned the TV to 29-1 and it was added

My DTVPal converter boxes need a rescan for channels to add. To remove them I have to remove them from the list

My wife just brought this to my attention. Although this specifically refers to KARE 11 delivered via DISH Network direct broadcast satellite I am posting this here because KARE 11 is a local HDTV provider. In my case, I have chosen to receive this via my over the air antenna and, particularly in light of things like this, I will continue to do so.

http://www.kare11.com/life/programming/dish.aspx

Attention DISH Subscribers
Starting October 8, KARE11 may no longer be available on DISH. That means you could lose access to blockbuster college football, NFL Sunday night football and entertainment programming such as The Voice as well as your local news, weather and sports. Tell DISH to keep your NBC station KARE11 by calling 1-800-823-4929.
Information about KARE11 on DISH
In order for our station, KARE11, to be delivered to your home, we negotiate agreements for the rights to carry our station with video service providers like DISH. In the vast majority of cases, these agreements are reached through normal business discussions. In fact, KARE11 has agreements in place with all of the video providers in our area. Unfortunately, so far DISH has refused to reach a fair, market-based agreement with us. If a deal is not reached by midnight on October 7, DISH subscribers will lose access to KARE11.

Q: Why is DISH refusing to reach an agreement to carry KARE11?

A: We cannot speak for DISH. But here is what our viewers should know: KARE11 is committed to reaching fair, market-based agreements with all the video service providers in our area. Our track record shows that we have successfully reached such deals time and time again. That is why DISH's refusal to reach an agreement with us is disappointing. It is our hope that DISH will change course and reach a deal because it is unfair for customers to lose one minute of KARE11 programming.

Q: If KARE11 is off the DISH programming lineup, what can I do to avoid missing my favorite sports, news and entertainment programs?

A: The good news is that you have choices. First, KARE11 is available on other video service providers in our area including DirecTV, Charter Communications, Comcast and Mediacom or, you may have another local system available for cable. And you can always get KARE11 free over-the-air.
Charter Communications
Comcast
DirecTV
Mediacom www.charter.com

1-866-922-8128
1-888-777-2454
1-855-633-4226

Q: I have heard DISH say that KARE11 is demanding a big fee increase, which would lead to higher satellite bills. Is that true?

A: No. KARE11 has successfully negotiated agreements with all the other providers in our area based on the same basic terms that are being offered to DISH. Those other providers were willing to reach a deal. So far, DISH is not. In any case, we do not believe customers should be dragged into the middle of business disputes. We know that what matters to you is getting what you pay for and not losing programs you love. That is why we are focused on reaching a fair, market-based deal as quickly as possible.

Q: Isn't it unfair that I lose access to a channel that I'm paying for just because two companies can't reach a deal?

A: We agree – it is unfair. After all, you pay your bill to DISH every month. You deserve the full set of channels you are paying for. That is why we are working hard to reach a fair, market-based deal with DISH based on similar terms to the deals we have with the other providers in our area.

I saw that scroll last night when watching P&R OTA on KARE. Glad I'm OTA where I don't have to pay to not receive channels tongue.gif

Its Dish...what else is new? They get into pissing matches with EVERYONE lately
AMC, We, IFC
MSG, SNY, YES
Big 10
Disney

They JUST got back NBC in INdy and CBS in Columbus, OH after a 3 week spat

now Gannett
I'm a dish subscriber and side with them on all these disputes. I'm glad someone stands up to these stattions. I think the whole pay tv model is broke and needs to change and this is just part of that. Why should dish have to pay to carry something that is free only to pass along costs to us. Especially since the channel gets into many more homes if dish carries it than if they don't.

From what I found on "the other site" they are asking for a 300% price increase and disabling of the auto-hop feature.

So huge price increase on something people can get for free.  And focus on disabling a feature that only one provider provides, for which a very small number of people can use, and an even smaller number of people actually have it turned on and those people are already watching the show at least 24 hours after it aired to use the feature.

Sounds like a company ringing out every last penny of their dying business model.

Well, should I assume that DISH has NOT disabled the auto hop for any other channels yet. I think I read that DISH had similar disputes for up to 3 weeks recently, I wonder how they eventually settled?

correct, Dish has not disabled it.  Rumor has it that is part of the current AMC trial/dispute as well.  And another rumor is DirecTV has a similar feature ready to launch pending a couple of the current lawsuits against Dish.
