Anyone been to Best Buy at Arrowhead lately? My, have they changed. Did a quick check of tablets and both my wife and I preferred the Thrive over the iPad2, Galaxy and Xoom. Will be going back for further checks soon.

Best Buy is making a major bet on tablets.

I was in the ATT store last week and really liked the Acer Iconia Tab A500.

Hey, cool, thanks for the link. I think I'm going to have to pull my Cox QAM in the bedroom and hook up an indoor OTA antenna.

BTW, I get your point, but look at it from the Cox perspective. No one is going to sign up for cable because they carry 3.2 or even 7.1-2-3. Cable is not like it was in the old days where these local stations were clamoring to get carried. Now there are fees and contracts involved and that slows down the process, if it doesn't stop it in its tracks. If KTVK doesn't adverise ThisTV, then no one knows about it and doesn't ask for it.

IMHO, Cox already pays for channels very few watch, but that is due to bundling contracts with the owners. That may be changing, but I still don't see a solution to things like ThisTV, MeTV, and RTV.

FWIW, I recently completed a long online survey (about 25 minutes) and many questions were about specific channels and groups of channels. I took it to mean they are looking at TWC's new offering, a lower-priced package of select channels.

Thank you. But you mentioned SD copies and other channels... without telling us what those channel NUMBERS are. This is what I'm talking about. When it come to the "virtual tagging", only 2 channels come in clearly.

I do know there is a Google List (or whatever it's called) that lists the exact channels for clear-qam, but I cannot find it. Anyone?

I have no idea what you are saying here. Perhaps an example would help?

What are you using for a tuner? On my TV, the SD "analog" channels come in on their Cox channel numbers. That is, AMC is channel 43, TNT is channel 26, etc., just like in the Cox channel lineup on their website. The Clear QAM "digital" channels are listed as explained in the First Post here. But, even so, what difference does it make? You get the channels you get and they all have logos that are displayed periodically, if not 24/7, to tell you what they are.

That's what I don't understand. That list is right out of the lnk in the First Post and only contains the digital channels, not the SD analog channels I mentioned. There has got to be something else he's looking for. Between that list and the Cox channel lineup for Basic and Expanded channels, there is nothing more that I'm aware of and I don't know where it's all contained in a single list. If I did, I'd add it to the First Post.

Showtime was on 2 , those old Sylvania cables boxes sent the signal out on channel 2. This was a fun thing to come across. I remember my parents doing this when I was a kid but thinking back on it I never could think of a reason to chain cable boxes but now I know!

Haven't been there but FWIW, I bought a 16 GB Thrive at Best Buy when they first hit the street. I've since added a 16 GB SD card and reformatted my 320 GB USB connectable hard drive (formerly the back-up for my now languishing HP laptop) to exFAT configuration so that it plays nice too. I am totally pleased with the Thrive.

Thanks for the feedback. I've decided I'm going to buy 2 Thrives, probably the 32G versions even though I know I can get more storage for less by going with the 16G unit and SD cards. I've already bought the Blue and Silver replacement backs for $6 each at Best Buy so my wife and I will be able to tell ours apart quickly.

This afternoon Cox Phoenix removed Copy Once protection (CCI = 0x02) from all non-premium channels, now allowing transferring recordings to other TiVos and PC's for those using CableCARDs. Hopefully this will be a permanent change.

All because one person asked to have it removed @ DSLR Forums:

Congrats to Rakeesh for hanging in there and making something happen. I ordered my Thrive tablets yesterday, so that will free up my laptops so I can connect one of them to a TV and play with maybe turning it into an HTPC of some sort using a USB tuner or something. I feel so far behind on this technology though.

Has anyone noticed Multiple Recordings disappearing from their Cox DVR within the last day or so?

Yesterday morning at about 6am a black box with white letters was displayed saying a CableCARD update was about to happen, then both the DVR and the bedroom STB rebooted.

I just noticed about 60% of my recordings are gone, every program that was marked Save Until Space Needed is now gone. I still had ~30% available space, so space was not really an issue. When I received the beta firmware I didn't loose anything.

Nothing here, but then I don't have a CC and I don't use the "Save Until Space Is Needed" option either. My 8300HD does show there was a warm boot this morning, but that doesn't make sense because that's about the time I turned it on this morning.

Well, I checked further and Ch 1999 shows a warm boot every time I turn it on, so that's pretty useless data. The last cold boot was back on Aug 28 and that was probably a power outage because I was gone. Sounds like whatever happened only affected you or CC users.

This is some of the best news I've heard this year! I stumbled upon the CCI removal tonight as I was looking at some of the CableCard recordings I made the past few days with my HDHomeRun Prime. I thought surely it must be a weekend fluke or something and so I came here to see if anyone else noticed and wow!!! I really hope this is permanent. If so, I can get back to automated commercial removal like I used to do with analog capture.

Any other TiVo people on Cox lose their local broadcast channels (1003-1016) on their Tuning Adapters today?

For some reason mine are missing from the TA's channel map.

The channels come in ok while the TA is booting/blinking, but as soon as the green LED goes steady and the TA channel map takes over, those channels are no longer accessible.

All other channels 1017 and above, including SDV, are coming in fine even with the TA.

I have a first call into Cox done, they just sent a reset, which I had already done through the 800 number.

All locals are working for me at this time.

On another note:
I did notice Cox has now blocked the one Plus Package channel I was receiving.

The following channel now displays "This channel is not Authorized"

Thanks Bryan. I have my locals back finally, but the TiVo went ahead and changed all of the Season Passes for the missing channels to 801 (dhch).

Not happy about that as it will take some time to re-do those.

Had the same channel issue with my Tivo yesterday as well. Spent 30 minutes yesterday with Cox Tech Support about it....yes, did the reset of both the TA and the Tivo. The problems went away late in the afternoon yesterday.
According to the Cox rep, the TA shouldn't bother with those channels since they are neither encrypted or SDV....somebody may have sent out a old remap file by mistake that screwed things up. Almost had a truckroll to check the TA out, but cancelled it.
