Cox Channel 90 - ThisTV (3.2 - KTVKDT2) is now live, although my Cox receiver does not yet show it in the guide, it is tunable.

Looks like RTV died its long, quiet death. 7.3 is now HSN. Too bad they didn't pick up AntennaTV.

Switched over early Monday morning. I have 2nd-hand info that KAZT couldn't add Antenna TV due to "contractual obligations". I'm speculating that Me-TV has some sort of non-compete clause in their contract that forbids an affiliate from also affiliating with another classic TV network. Just a hunch.

TBS HD has disappeared from the TiVo guide after their recent move to 1049. TiVo support says 5-7 days to correct. Good timing for baseball playoffs.

I'm moving into an apartment complex next month that contracts exclusively with Century Link for High Speed Internet. I currently have Cox Preferred (up to 18mbps down) where I currently get close to a blistering 27-30 mbps download speeds all for the low price of $53.99. I know- I have been completely spoilt and was wondering how much of a down grade I should expect once I make the move. I haven't been impressed with what I've seen on their website be it their prices or download/ upload speeds. If anyone here is using them please share your experiences and what to look out for once I'm ready to sign up with them. Thanks!

That's understandable. Tucson just got AntennaTv on channel 9.2. Can't believe the stations here are not interested. Bounce just showed up on 45.2 this week. Maybe 10.2 ?

Someone from another forum has been bugging KPHO about adding Antenna TV, but they're not interested. I think they want to keep maximum bandwidth for their HD primary channel. A wx sub doesn't use much bandwidth. Belo has been resisting adding any more subchannels to KTVK or KASW because they haven't been able to get ThisTV on cable. That changed last week, when This TV debuted on Cox channel 86. (Not 90, as reported earlier.) We're holding out hope that Antenna TV might show up on channel 61.2 sometime. Most of the channels with available bandwidth are either religious or Spanish on their primary - don't know if Antenna TV would want to play second banana to that programming, plus being on LPTV stations, it makes it less likely to be picked up by cable.

Do you need a digital box in order to get channel 86?

No, it's clear QAM and shows up as 3.2 on my TV without any box.

TV/Monitor would need an ATSC tuner though, right? I know a lot of spare rooms are still using older equipment.

Right.

Whomever set the schedule up for channel 5 last night does not have a clue. Cardinal game kickoff is at 5:20. Their schedule showed it ending at 8 with Person of Interest and Elementary running at their normal times of 8 & 9. When was the last time a NFL game lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes?

Fortunately I recorded the news and Letterman, so I got those two shows on the TiVo. However my recording of the Big Bang Theory is actually Craig Ferguson. I hope they repeat it and 2 and a half men on Saturday instead of a rerun of Made in Jersey.

Does anyone know what the current HD DVR offering is for Cox? I have a Scientific Atlanta 8240HDC and the 2 tuners are becoming a bit of a limitation.

Currently, Cox doesn't offer any DVRs with more than two tuners. You can connect up to four 2-tuner 8642HDC DVRs together in a WHDVR setup and have 8 tuners to use. Or, you can opt for any of the aftermarket 2+ tuner solutions.

Or get two 4 tuner Tivos, but that can be expensive.

New movie channel available on 45.2, "BounceTV"
Not just movies - entertainment of all types highlighting the Black community. KUTP picking up Bounce TV was part of an agreement between Fox Television Stations and Bounce TV.

I wish I could help, but I have no direct experience with Century Link. My SILuses it, but all they do is email for the most part, so that won't help you.

Hard to say. Depends on what you're looking for. I have 7Mbps service with Centurylink. Rack cost on that is $54.99, but I have local phone service (+ $13.18) and get a $13 promotional discount. With taxes and fees, my monthly bill is around $65.

The advantage to DSL is that you have a direct connection, whereas with cable modem, you're basically on a network with your neighbors, so during peak times, your actual speed can be lower. DSL is always consistent on your end; delays are generally at the website you're visiting.

DSL used to also have the advantage that upload speed and download speed were the same, but that's not true anymore. CenturyLink throttles upload speeds to 768K, IIRC. Also, as a rule, you generally get a bit less than your top speed due to overhead, so my actual download speed is about 6.88 Mbps.

I first got DSL when I needed the faster upload speeds, but stopped working for that company before CenturyLink throttled back their upload speeds. (People were using their broadband connections to operate file servers, which were against the terms of agreement.)

Make your own decisions...I'm with CenturyLink mainly due to inertia and my general dislike of Cox from the time I had cable TV through them, but I really need to check out Cox again.
