TV will see the mac, but the mac will not see the tv

toshiba 57h93 built in tuner
i have a 57h93 toshiba hdtv w/built it tuner. it will see the mac but i can't get the mac to see the tv.
under the play side it shows 1 connection but 0 on the record side.
is there a setting i'm missing?

Do you have CableCard? There is a bug with CableCard on Scientific Atlanta systems that will prevent recording. Of course, you can't record DTV/HDTV cable channels with a PC or Mac anyway, because they don't support 5C encryption.

Not using cable for HD, taking ATSC off air with the built in tuner. the 57h93 does not have the cable card, the h94 does.
I have the h93.

For people to help you, I think you need to supply a bit more information -- like the steps you used to setup recording on the Mac.
