Why is the audio on the local weather cut-ins during the Today Show on WAVY-10 so horrible?
It looks like stretched SD video and the audio sounds all tinny like a 100 year old transistor radio.
This happened at 8:07 and 9:07 am
WAVY get you sheet together for the Today Show local cut-ins or just don't cut in at all

Yeah... Half of them looked fine and the others look like they were using Skype... LOL

this morning... getting WBOC/Salisbury... stations in eastern NC plus FOX Charlotte (WCCB) now that WGNT turn off its analog signal...

Summer morning tropo always has the potential for interesting reception here in King George. This morning, WHRO and WAVY rolled in with stable reception. WVPT popped up for long enough to get the PSIP loaded.

Just FOX Richmond for me here in Virginia Beach

Since gettting FIOS I dont even have the OTA channels added to my guide on my Tivo HD's. The changing going on 13 to VHF and reception problems, its just not worth it. I will probably only use it in an catastrophic emergency and I will not be purchasing a VHF antenna. All time bonehead move IMO after the area being all UHF for years. Way to give long time digital OTA users the shaft. Seriously, why would anyone with a provider carrying the HD locals go out and spend more money on a different antenna?

Power bill is much less on VHF than UHF.

Hi...is WAVY considering adding Universal Sports as a digital subchannel? It carried the recent Swimming World Championships as well as two of the big three cycling championships, the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta d'Espana. Most of the NBC affiliates in the top 20 media markets in the country carry Universal Sports, and I'd like to see WAVY added to this list. They used to have a WAVY weather station on 43.2 so I know they have the capability to add digital subchannels. The Vuelta starts on August 29th. Any chance of this happening?
I sure hope not. We went through the sub-channel fiasco before with severe negative results to the HD quality on the main channels. Just look at WHRO HD now if you want to see the effects of running sub-channels.
No other LIN stations carry Universal Sports, so I would bet that WAVY will not be carrying it.

I've already seen macroblocking in WAVY's HD local news...

If WAVY would move their encrypted weather subchannel to WVBT instead, it would make 10-1 look better without harming 43-1.

So have I. We don't need anything else degrading the main channel.

I also wonder whats going on with the 43-1 10pm news. For the first couple of minutes the sound is terrible. Like they are underwater then it clears up. I hear this on a consistent basis.

I think I'm going to by a "Big Ben" windup clock and send it to them. They can't seem to ever start the newscast at 10.

I remember a day when I was the only one that would say that in this thread and you would sit back and support the network engineers arguements while they chastized me. My how times have changed.

Let's just say my eyes have been opened. Even without the subs they seem to have problems with providing enough bandwidth to prevent the little imperfections in their picture quality. In the quest for excellence they are a long way from achieving it.

You were right 100 percent. I was 100 percent wrong on that issue.

You weren't the only one. Remember "bandwidth is like platinum"

I remember seeing your station carrying them in HD. Impressive, great job George. I finally watch your station for sports, I always refused to before because it was not in HD. There sure is a lot of HD up there now for the viewers in this area.

So if you want to blame someone, it has to be the NFL.

Whats the excuse this year? LMAO Looks like they dumped the deadskins for the game as they should have last year!

Are the issues I've seen today on Fox happening OTA too or just DirecTV??

I haven't had any EPG data from WVBT OTA in over a week, and lost it on WAVY a few days ago as well. I only watch sports on those 2, so no biggie I guess.

Anyone else missing EPG data?

Im sure this is old news, I used the search and it led me to this post. When did 13-1 go away, I know it was a while ago, but why do we not have ABC any longer over the air. (Norfolk/VaBch) Can someone shed some light?
