Outdoor Speakers and Lighting?

Everyone,

I have finally started installing my whole house audio system and encountered a scary situation here before the Winston last weekend, thunderstorms! Anyone who watched the race knows about the two hour delay, thunder, lightening, rain, well Lowes speedway is less than 10 miles from my house. I had just installed the outdoor speakers that afternoon and now a thunderstorm came ripping through.

So what's the question you ask? Is there some kind of surge protection for speakers?!?! My satellite dish is grounded, I've got a whole house supressor, surge protectors for everything (telephone, coax, AC).... But I feel extremely exposed with these speakers outside on the deck! I hate for them to be struck and blow out the Russound CA6-4 along with anything else attached and potentially entering the AC lines.

So does anything exist or am I just being parnoid?!?!

Thanks!

Ditek, a Florida based surge suppression manufacturer, has the product you are looking for.

I've talked with Panamax about this issue. They approved the C-Band module which passes the rotor/power etc. to the dish. Thats all I know of.

Jeffrey, I live in Mt Holly...less than 15 miles from you. I have has Niles OS-10's outside for 2 years now and never had a problem. My neighbors sattelite dish got blown off his roof by lightning about 60' from my outdoor speakers and DSS dish and no problem. I guess what I'm saying is you can have the very best surge suppression and have everthing grounded, but if it gets hit.....thats it...its done for. Nothing will stop a direct strike...it is part of life in the Carolinas. Just make sure your homeowners premiums are paid uphttp://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
