But, what if one is trying to distribute HDTV signals? The future is not set with this technology. If encrypted FireWire IEEE is used for the video portion (as what CEA wants) or DVI (as Hollywood wants), won't that put a crimp in things?
Analog component video routing (or RGB) would be moot as it wouldn't be allowed to work with HDTV signals (they want to shut off 720p and 1080i and even 1080p from those unprotected analog connections in a big way).
How would you distribute the video portion in a whole house system then? The only thing I can think of is through properly amplified, quad-shielded RG6 from your satellite, digital cable, and/or roof top antennae feed. Then use a compatible set top box in each room you want HDTV in.
