Lost in Translation? Wow, when was that on HD and on what channel? I have a custom DVD cover, and will get to work on the D-VHS version for ya.

I have several of your titles Jeff, but they have DVD information on the backs. I will work to correct them, as I did not want to submit covers that were not correct.

Thanks for the feedback.

"Many more going up this week. You guys are busy!"

What program are you guys using to make these covers? Could you guys provide some details, I, and im sure others would like to try a attempt in making some to help out. Would be nice to know:

2. How you guys go about getting the hi res pics for the front and back
3. How u make the spine
4. Where do u get the info for the back cover ( is it from the dvd)
5. Where do you get the icons you put on the back cover
6. Anything else useful

Thanks.

1. Photoshop
2. Lots of searching on the net.
3. Lots of font searching and about 2 years of working with photoshop.
4. Generally yes. I modify the back of most of mine, or, just totally recreate a new back.
5. I have hundreds of them. Back from the old days of dvdcoverart.com. But, brands of the world is a great source.
6. I just made a template that I drop everything into. Big time saver.

Thanks for the tips. Heres my first crack at a cover. I present: The Last Samurai. Tell me what you think.

Here is version 2.

Paniro, looks pretty good!

My 2cent

Just that the WB logo all look distorted and not in proportion. Same with the Last Samurai logo on the spine.

As for other things I've noticed a lot of covers seem to cram everything on a page. Dont try to use up all the "empty space" on a design. Space is good... it could create a balance with how the elements interact. Over crowded designs are harder to focus on the subject. For example an indent in a paragraph make it easier to lead into the body of a story, etc..

Anyway good work guys!

Thanks. Im gonna work on it some more later today when i have some free time.

Paniro,
Good job!

I liked cover #2 better.

I'm going to be recording "13 going on 30" tomorrow night, it's one of my wife's favorites. If anyone wants to make a cover for that I would appreciate it.
I like them both. I'll be glad to put them both up. All the new covers are up, but not listed on the HTML yet. I'll be doing that tonight.

Paniro...just curious, why do your previews look vertically stretched?

Nice start. I would remove the UPC. That should be fairly easy to do using the "clone" tool in Photoshop.

Regards!
I dont know. I had them resized to 640 x 640. Version 2 has been resized

Just sent Doc Hollywood up. Touch one to do, as I really only had low-res material to work with. Turned out pretty good considering. If I am not mistaken, no widescreen is available on DVD, so having a widescreen HD copy is nice.

Anyone know where the hell you can by the Dtheater empty grey/silver cases??

they are called "Bullet VHS Cases", brand I have no idea

I can't find them at all
