Coax Cable Distribution Newbie Help

I am trying to decide the best way to transmit a coax signal to another room without using wires. My setup is:

Cable comes in downstairs, all my A/V equipment is upstairs and the house is not wired.

I thought that something like the Terk Leapfrog would be perfect, but it doesn't seem to have a coax input, just RCA's. I guess I could put the Cable Box downstairs, but then I'd have to get some kind of wireless IR to change channels.

I'm sure the best answer is to get out the drill and start making holes or call my local cable service, but I just can't help trying a more esoteric approach, if there is one.

Hi Eddie, You should check out the Channel plus line of products. Is there any common area that has access to the entertainment room and the lower level, even air ducts?

I've never had good experience with terks, way too much noise/interference. I would definetly vote for the drill

Use a drill... it is not as hard as it seems. Go to home depot and get a "wire puller" and a really long and perhaps flexible drill bit. They keep it all right next to the RG6 wiring... so it should be easy to find.

While you're there get the mounting stuff for the wall plates and the tools to end the cable. But don't buy their splitters. A good "dummy" way to figure a good spliter is weight (I know)... but seriously, good spliters are heavy.

Good luck - the weather should be nice for the weekend.

BigRed,

Thanks for the advice. Home Depot it is, and a drilling I will go.

You are right about the weather and I may have to do the project over Sat. & Sun while I fit in a little golfing.

Thanks
