Hinny TV. All tail, all the time.

Don't mind me. I'm just a little giddy after the Lions win....

So I get to see some Hinny on TV? Hmmm

Very exciting game today! Saw part of it at home via OTA on WLNS. Saw the other portion on the neighbors HD set via WWJ on DirecTV. All I have to say is the DirecTV picture quality was Lots of macroblocking and the colors were bland. This is a Sony LED that I helped calibrate, so I know the colors are in pretty good shape. Same game on my Samsung set looked great.

I was AT the game today in the Free Press/News suite, thanks to winning a drawing -- fantastic game, definitely the most important one the Lions have ever played at Ford Field. But I wonder why the video on the boards in the end zones looks like badly upconverted 480p?

56.* was almost useless from May to Late October but better since.
Never watch 20.*. Or 62.* (does anyone?) so don't know.
9.1 great picture with frequent brief drops of sound.

Thanks for confirming TVG data. I have a brand new 250 I have not setup yet and was debating hooking it up or listing it on ebay.
I'll keep it then and a project over christmas is now to integrate it into my setup.

Now, to order a cablecard from comcast.......not looking forward to it.....every time they've sent a tech out they were clueless about cablecards during my tv install and tivos......last experience was 2-3 years ago, so I hope I can order them and have them mail them to me...

Wow, March 7th? That's a lot longer than originally planned.

I would never assume anything with Comcast, but based on the original billing/service update the most recent round of Comcast HD add's were not supposed to happen until January 24th and we got them on 12/20....so maybe we will get CBET in HD sooner.

The FCC passed legislation about a year ago that mandates a self-installation option for CableCARDs. It went into effect in August, I believe. Let us know how it goes; I'm curious myself since I'll be moving in 2012 and would like to avoid techs when getting my TiVos set back up.

I get it now with a cheap indoor antenna on the second floor, near I-275 & Ann Arbor Rd, so it's no skin off my nose.

None that I know of, but online retailer Solid Signal, who's warehouse is in the Detroit area, used to have them. It may be worth a call. http://www.solidsignal.com/

maybe it's just me but.... Comcast here in westland isn't receiving abc, nbc or fox, or MY or CW/PBS in HD

Channels 231/232/234/235/236/240
for whatever reason cbs (233) in HD is just fine
I am getting the "one moment please, channels should be available shortly" banner
ref code S0a00

and I have already performed a re-boot of my box...all other HD channels seems to be performing fine

I'm receiving all of them just fine, and I'm not far from you. Unless the condition cleared up in the last 10 minutes, it may just be you, or it't not a real widespread issue.

Are you able to receive them by clear QAM? I am watching WDIV via clear QAM right now.

If you can, try moving the HD box to another location.

When you say zenith digital converter box, you mean using an antenna with it, right?

I'm relatively close by also and have no issues with any channels.

I think its a comcast issue, not even on my little DTA boxed do 2/4/7 come in, and yes I have a zenith "changeover special" converter box with antenna (powered) and all the OTA channels are coming in, and sub channels too...

on my comcast i seem to be getting everything BUT the over the air network stations

Yes, that would be a cable issue, but if it's inside your residence (as opposed to outside), it would be your issue. Exception is if you have a maintenance plan with them.

If all the Comcast boxes are having the same issue, as you describe, you could check right where the cable enters and see if anything looks suspicious. Check all connections, etc.
yup, checking all splitters
I hate Comcast, the last thing I wanted to do on Christmas night is fiddle with splitters and cable boxes, all I wanted to do is watch Sunday night football on NBC, and while my Cable boxes get all the "cable" channels like ESPN and CNN, it doesnt seem to want to tune in the broadcast channels like fox/NBC/CBS...etc..

UGH...

(from my facebook status)

comcast is called in I have an appointment on saturday (really really busy this week with kids), somehow I have a suspicion that once I talk to a local (i.e. Michigan) tech on Monday, this issue might get magically solved without a service call

I agree with Ken, this sounds like a wiring issue somewhere. I am not on the same system as you, but from what I hear most systems are similar nowadays and just checked the channels you are having problems with in the diagnostic menu on the cable box. All of the channels you say you are having problems with are above 651 Mhz and the channels you say are coming in are below 609 Mhz. Looks like a high frequency roll off issue.

When I got my Tivo last month, Comcast insisted that they had to send a tech out to install the CableCARD. I didn't push too hard, but they didn't seem very willing to bend on it.

I think you have to go to a Comcast office to request and pick up a cable card. If you call they will not send cablecards, they can only dispatch techs. Of course, there is no way to find out if any are in stock at an office.

I really don't think a "wiring issue" would affect just the OTA HD channels.

When I was on "vacation service" with Comcast a few months ago (supposedly no TV) I got that same message but if I hit the "15 sec. back" button the channel would come in just fine. I had to do this with each change of channel.

Edit: When I first posted this I didn't realize you were having problems w/ 2/4/7 SD (675 mHz). It could be a wiring issue. You can check the SNR for your channels using the STB diagnostics. Power off the STB. Then by hitting the Menu key twice followed by "OK" should get you to the diagnostic menu. Scroll down to "In-Band Status" and hit OK to get the info. The power button twice will put things back in normal mode.

Sure it could.

That group of channels is located in a group, in terms of frequency, and if the coax is damaged in a way that affects that area of frequency, it can affect reception of just those.

Having said that, it could be any number of other issues.
