No, ON-TV and IT were different services, albeit very similar. Both of them had movies; ON had some Tigers games, if I recall correctly. Don't think IT had any sports. The main thing I remember about it was that the clear audio on channel 31 was NOAA weather radio.

ON used the signal of WXON Channel 20, which had a far better signal over most of the Detroit area (as it transmitted from Southfield - that station is now WMYD and transmits from Oak Park).
The disadvantage for ON was that WXON was still competing as an independent in the clear - ON programming did not start until 8 pm. In contrast, WIHT would eventually transmit pay-TV 24 hours a day, and for years after nobody watched it (no pun intended) anymore (I think it ended about 1990 and flipped to Home Shopping, before Pax was launched).

As Spock would say..."fascinating". I don't remember any of that but I sure remember ON. I think though it's because as rreini sad they had Tiger's games at one point...

Is it true that The Cool TV will be dropped from 20.2? Will it be replaced by some other network? I honestly couldn't care less about Cool TV, but I would like to know if it will be replaced with something worthwhile. wink.gif

Where did you hear it is being dropped? I know all Sinclair stations dropped it but WMYD is owned by Granite Broadcasting Corporation.

My mom received an email from WOW! saying that they would no longer be carrying the channel due to it being dropped by WMYD.

"WMYD will discontinue carriage of Cool TV effective September 19, 2012. As a result, Cool TV (WOW! Basic channel 102) will be removed from our channel lineups in Detroit. Please contact the WMYD station general number (248-355-2020) if you have questions regarding this programming change. "

No, it is not. This was due to CoolTV being behind in payments to WMYD. I believe it is many months behind so they had no choice but to take them off the air.

Aside from MundoFox, or launching a weather radar based station as WJBK is going to, what other options are there?

EDIT: I guess I answered my own questions about English based and Spanish based options. But what stations are realistic for the DMA? I don't want to see a Religious based alternative.

It seems like Me-TV would be a possibility; they're not here yet, although it would be in competition with Antenna TV on WADL and, to a lesser extent, This TV on WDIV.

Various media sources are reporting that Time Warner Cable (and thus Bright House) and the NFL Network have reached a carriage agreement. No formal announcement yet but one is expected later today. No details as to which tier/package this will wind up on BHN yet.

Is anyone broadcasting MyTV in Detroit on a sub or on Comcast? I see it as a sub channel in a lot of other markets but I haven't seen it on Comcast in Detroit. It's a station that shows a lot of oldies like Twilight Zone and Dick Van Dyke.

And what about the cartoon channel Boomerang? Is that offered by Comcast?

The NFL is pretty adamant about NFLC being on a basic tier. They'll allow systems to put RedZone on an upper tier. But we'll probably get NFLC on every package but analog.

It's official. From the NFL's press release: "NFL Network and NFL RedZone will debut in Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks homes beginning this Sunday September 23, with full launch before Thursday, September 27. ... For Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks, NFL Network will be available on the Digital Basic and Sports Pass tiers, and NFL RedZone will be available to Sports Pass customers."

Wonder how much that'll eventually take our bills up. It'll be nice to have NFLN. RedZone costing more is a touch annoying, but then I shell out for NFLST on D*, so the NFL's RZ is not something I need.

I'm seeing WXYZ's new subchannel 7.3 (41.5) with the strange combination of Bounce TV AUDIO, but a color bars pattern on the VIDEO, for the third day running (!?!) Is there something wrong with my sets, or is this what's actually being sent out. Are they unable to show the video because of bandwidth still being used the Dyle?

I'm seeing that as well, so that is what's being sent out. As to why that is, I don't know.
