I was deleting a show off of my MythTV DVR today and noticed that back in May pretty consistently ABC 7.1 was producing about 6.1 GB per hour of recorded content. That's down to 3.8 GB per hour for the fall season. This is OTA. I thought this board may be interested in that and it sort of validates some past conversation here.

Could this be an example of why I find OTA CBC 9.1 to have noticeably better PQ than any other channel? What is their comparable rate?

My antenna points towards Southfield and I'm in Canton, so getting 9.1 on my HDHomeRun is inconsistent. 62.1 and 50.1 generally have the best rate at 7.5-7.7 GB per hour recently (notice no subchannels). Also, I don't know which if any of the locals use CBR vs. VBR.

WXYZ has devoted subchannel 7.2 to local election results this evening, it appears.

EDIT: It's the same content as WXYZ's election webcast.

Good use of sub channels

Even better if they'd run one of the 12:00 ABC games, this Saturday. There are three and they're bumping them all for an ESPN+ game on 7.1.

Agreed.

I got a message on my TV-Guide on air today saying the service will be discontinued.

Are there alternatives for OTA users?

First, my barber retires, then my Doctor retires and now TV Guide retires.

OH the humanity!

Follow along with the madness here: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1122914/tvgos-tv-guide-on-screen-devices

My thought is the only other option will be the station-created guides embedded in the ATSC stream. If your TV or other device doesn't display that, then about all you can do is keep zap2it.com or one of the others bookmarked on your browser.

CIII-29 from Sarnia has converted from Analog to Digital on RF29 today. Reception reports? I am out of town and can't check. Contour is available HERE.
Nothing from Global 29-1 here in Holly with that major null to the west!
I wonder what effect this will have on reception of WGTE (RF 29, virtual 30)?
I've already heard it's wiped out WGTE in the Leamington area...
Has CKCO3 (CTV, 42, perhaps changing to 27), on the same tower, also made the switch?
No, CKCO 42 is still analog...and I believe they are on seperate towers. CKCO's tower is 100 meteres taller!
CIII-29 is coming in at around 70% signal strength (mid-day) in Troy, using a 4228A outside on the chimney on a rotator. Considerably/surprisingly stronger than CIII-22 here. Hoping for the same at some point whenever CKCO-42 goes digital.

I just had the WOW Ultra TV installed and it seems pretty robust. I'll be checking it out further. It was pointed out to me by the installer that 'Me TV' was added to the lineup on ch 196. Likely this is on QAM as well, as WOW features many of their basic channels in the clear, but I haven't checked. Interesting they are on cable, but not OTA. I had originally meant to go OTA only in my new location, but the basic channels from WOW via QAM were only $20 a month with my internet. Then I found out Ultra TV was just a little more. Oh well... back to cable! rolleyes.gif

Still have the antenna up for backup. Plus CBET and WCMZ in HD.

BBC World News is now active on Bright House (SD channel 146, HD channel 339). The HD version looks like 16:9 SD (at least to my eyes).
yimitz,

It does look like that.

BTW: TWC is adding Military Channel HD in California so it could be a possibility for Bright House too. You guys will get the monthly notice a week from today.

They finally made it. I'm getting a marginal signal west of Toledo. According to their STA, they're running 70 KW. I would expect the signal level to improve once they're at full power.

How is it working with the PSIP?
It's displaying 18.1
Isn't WDWO already on PSIP 18?

"Me TV" is on QAM channel 26-196 on WOW. Most QAM tuners should map that to channel 196.

You can check the lineup here: http://www.wowway.com/our-products/ultra-tv/channel-lineups

I pick up WHTV 18 at 100% when I swing the antenna around to the SSW. I also get WDWO 18 100% when pointed SE....there is no issue with my TV displaying both 18-1's in it's memory!

As for WHNE moving to RF20 in Southfield, I am NOT picking up any signal from them as of this moment....
I get WDWO but not the other 18 WHTV. Did WHNE move yet cause I am not receiving that one either.
On another forum, someone from Windsor posted they are getting WHTV 18, RF34 from the Chelsea transmitter very strongly. Burrito, if you have a rotor, aim west and try RF34!
