[quote=dherman516;19400013]A few quick words of wisdom for use of the HDPVR:
1. Hook up EITHER TosLink OR Analog, not both [quote] No problem. Whole setup is optical
2. Use a USB 2.0 Certified cable
3. Make sure USB Port on computer is USB 2.0
No problem with either. I built the computer this spring and I don't think there's a non-compliant USB port on it. Will use one of the motherboard ports
4. Set up your set top box to 1080i or 720p and Leave it there (via service menu) -- switches of resolution kinda screw things up
Since the RP HDTV only does 1080i, this is already set.
This'll be on the DirecTV box for the time being. And probably only used to record HBO. I rather doubt I'll even need channel changing to work. I have four QAM tuners on board to handle network stuff, though I may switch all of those to the antenna as BHN has a nasty habit of reassigning the locals causing me to get an hour of "Knight Rider" instead of "Parenthood." But I digress..
Video card should be fine as it's handled everything I've thrown at it so far. In fact the whole HTPC rarely hiccups.
I KNEW I could count on you guys!
UPDATE: Installed for use with W7MC had one crash during WMC's guide setup. Restarted WMC, re-ran the whole setup thing and it appears to have taken. The guide now integrates analog cable, ClearQAM and DirecTV. WMC found the box and the other 8 tuners. Won't get to test it out until tomorrow, though.
