Runco Ultra Scaler/Processor - Better Choices ?

In my discussions with my dealer on either a Rnco 930 or 940, the Scaler/Processor of choice is always the Ultra series. I ould like to buy a processor that supports 720P, so I am limited to either the VHD 4403 or 4404

Any better, possibly cheaper alternatives out there that performs to the same level or better and does 720P ?

I have been very happy with my Crystal Image from AV Science. It produces a filmlike picture at 720p. Very clean, especially with a clean DVD transfer. Also, it is well priced. Check it out at the AVS store. Also has VGA pass through for HD or other sources.

I think I'm confused...why in particular would you want a processor to run at 720p? The 930's EMF/smaller spot size might reward the higher figure, but wouldn't that be a bit too much for the 940 (Barco)? In addition, does the 720p rez mentioned have anything to do with HDTV uses, and if so isn't the processor bypassed? Anyone-what might be the best processor settings (let's assume 60Hz for the moment)for these two projectors? Does this change with aspect(4x3 vs. anamorphic vs. Ltrbx)?

Aerlith,

Good question, my Proceed PMDT Transport/DVD has a feature path of 720P in the future, although no DVDs support that level, I would think once the technology is made available, this will become reality.
