dtv - when will it be ready for novice HTPC users?

I've been following the updates on the dtv software and I'm excited
about the notion of getting HTPC quality with sources other than DVD's

The question on my mind is when will it be tweaked enough for
a novice like me to use it?

It could be quite some time before dTV is appropriate for the novice. But then again, I'm not sure the HTPC is appropriate for the novice.

The primary developer, JohnAd, is about to become very limited in the time he can devote to the project, which will most likely slow down progress dramatically.

To make the program appropriate for the novice it will need a simple GUI interface, and there is still plenty of work needed to support video and audio from the plethora of tv tuner cards that exist.

But if you have enough computer knowledge to be dangerous, or the desire to learn, I'd say go for it. Download a copy, read the forum and start experimenting...the improved picture quality is well worth it.
