I hope this is the appropriate thread for this question.

I am experiencing the following issue with my JVC HD-52z575 television:

The viewing screen is ever so slightly bowed-in along the vertical edges from the bezel by about 1/16" on both sides of the screen. This causes the picture to have a pincushion effect or an hourglass shape. The is noticeable on 4:3 source material as well as the on-screen channel guide for my DISH service.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is anyone aware of a possible fix to this problem?

Apparently this is not covered under my extended warranty and is considered normal wear to the television.

Any help info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

if the screen is out of proportion you can actually torque the screen itself. ie. get another person on the other side and you twist the screen as in I guess twisting a business card.. moving the top right edge say forward and the top left edge backward.

this would be if your issue happened after you moved your set.

you can also search back in this thread there is a way to get to the internal hidden tv menu. there are tons of adjustments that I have not seen documented but maybe there is a setting you can tweak there.

you have to push buttons on your remote to access the hidden maintenance menu in the TV.

Be very careful about entering the service menu. You can physically damage your TV. I agree that warping of the cabinet is the likely cause. That happened to mine when I first got it in late 2005. Turns out that I had unknowingly laid the back corner on the power cord. After removing it I gently tugged on the cabinet once a day for a couple of weeks and the problem went away.

I realize this a pretty old thread but this is pretty old thechnology.
Does anyone know about the optics inside the optical block of the HD-52Z575?
I need what I believe are the polarizer and the G/M filter. The pieces are in the light path between the second lens and the D-ILA unit.
I believe I can source them through a company called "Edmond Optics" if I could describe them.

I have a service manual and have been searching for information on the web and the closest Ive come to the insides of the optical block is a publication from Dr. Bleha "D-ILA Projector Technology: The path to High Resolution Projection Displays" where it mensions the polarizer and the G/M filter but it's a general document for the D-ILA technology not for the projection tv itself.
Does your sevice manual get inside the block?

Check out the pics 002 and 004 are the filters alone and 007 is installed to the D-ILA unit

I spoke with a field engineer with JVC. He was nice enough to discuss the filters, the first one is in fact a polarizer and the other two are what he believed to be UV filters. I then got on the phone with tech pupport at Edmon Optics and he is looking into matching as best as he can a polarizer and uv filter based on halogen light and the aplication and such.
Cross my fingers what he comes up with works.

I'm also looking for the polarizer and filter to rebuild the light engine on my JVC 70A478, an early 2008 70" model. The picture is getting very dim, and I would suspect that if the polarizer isn't working properly, then the light isn't getting through the light engine properly. I can't find a rebuilt optical block, and I don't like the idea of throwing out a $5k TV after 4 years.

I did take it all apart and clean off a light brown dust from everything, including the lense. There was enough dust on the lens that I thought it would make a difference, but I really can't tell much from before and after.

The parts you are asking for, are to fix the problem of the input component burning up as in the pictures shown in the above threads. If you have taken the LE apart and you don't see that very obvious burn, then you don't have that problem. Don't fix a problem you don't have.

If your picture is very dim, yet is still symmetric and uniform without significant discoloration, they you probably just need a new lamp. UHP lamps can lose more than half of their output from when new, and some stragglers hang on way beyond that. How may hours are on the lamp that is in the tv?
