Especially when you can get NFL on fox in HD on the sunday ticket stations.
Sure, for $220 a year.

Ken,

I have heard that D* has waiting until after the NFL season to add FOX. Do you think that may not be the case since we saw it up on the sats before it hit a contract snag?
If they do wait it will be an intersting few weeks before the Superbowl and the end of NFL ST. I hope to get the NFL playoffs and Superbowl from D* on FOX-HD.

FYI.. i think FoxHD E&W are still up on the sats, however they are only available to those with engineering cards.

Read the DirecTV / FOX MLB topic at the top.

I live in Minneapolis (O&O) and do not get the baseball feed. Is this normal?

You should be getting it. Email or call them and have then add Fox Hd to your account. PM me if you need additional info.

Where can I "move" to get an engineering card? :)

ken-

is it odd for D* to leave a channel on the sats for so long without ever turning it on for subs? can one assume that by D* leaving it on the sats they are trying to get it turned on sooner rather than later?

I am moving this back to the front page.
Is FOX-HD E/W still on the sats and viewable with an engineering card?
Nothing has changed since yesterday.

Interesting, then how do they broadcast the DTV logo on a blue background along with a stereo audio signal as well if they are also blocking the FOX signal? Maybe subcarrier modulation? or even guard band modulation? Perhaps a default page built into every STB ever made? As well as an audio loop stored in every STB ROM ever made?

Bschneider says they appear for engineering cards on 86/87, not 88/89 which has the baseball. So, no DTV logos.

Frankly, I have had enough of this D*TV list of excuses...its sad that my local Cablevision has many more HD offerings than D*TV, including FOX HD and ABC HD. At this point, I cannot watch the Giants in HD because of this FOX HD bull and there is no word on ABC so no MNF in HD via D*TV. If it wasn't for Sunday ticket I would be gone!!!

Once Sunday ticket ends, if no FOX HD and ABC HD, i have no choice but to switch (and I have had D*TV since 1994!!!)...enough is enough!!!

It's not D*'s fault that it isn't on the air, obviously they had the intention of launching it already. You can really either a.) wait for the Fox HD feeds, b.) get an antenna or c.) switch to cable. It's stupid to compain about something that is not only out of your hands, but out of DirecTV's hands.
Local cable companies have the advantage of providing the local HD station, whereas DirecTV is bandwidth limited for locals HD so is trying to do what they can using network HD feeds. Our cable company can't deliver Fox or NBC or CBS HD as our local stations don't broadcast HD. Only ABC does, so once DirecTV gets the legal hassles worked out and provides Fox-HD I'll be set for the four major networks.

Perilous - I have both D* and Cablevision. I left Cablevision in 2000 because I couldn't stand them but I added Cablevision local package + sports and asked for the HD Box last year. It gives me all the locals + MSG and Fox Sports. I think I was paying low $30s per month. I also added Starz HD because D* doesn't offer yet. I'm paying more than I want to right now, but between both providers I also have all the hidef I need. It's clear that D* has the intiative to get very competitive with the cable systems, but it's also clear they are going to need time to get everything set up.

I've got cable and D* too. After spending $1000's on HDTV and HT audio, it seams reasonable to spend an extra $40 per month to have two MSO's until one of them has HD enough content. I've got a typical D* package, and a "trimmed to the bones" cable package, just to get local HD, TNT-HD and FSN-HD.

My wife will kill me but thanks for the info...this might be a good interim solution!! I will check out Cablevision's offers...

I don't think it means anything since that's the way it's been listed on my program guide for some time now. Currently all were're getting on those channels is the baseball feed.

FOX-HD E&W will be on DirecTV when it's on DirecTV.

Um, unless you are seeing something that we aren't, no one is getting anything on "those" channels... :) 86/87 are dead except to those with D* Engineering cards, and are the home of Fox HD when it comes up. 88/89 are the temporary place for the MLB b'casts.

Personally, I never trust anything in a magazine compared to what's here at AVS because of the long lead times.

Nothing has changed. 86/87 are still up full time with full guide data just waiting to be "flipped on". 88/89 are still only for MLB and both are mirrored from 86/87.
