Isn't master control at KADN?

It might not be your station.Cbs just ran on their ticker that they are having sun outage problems with the hd satellite. I also found this on another post

""These twice per year sun outages (around the time of equinox) have been an issue since geosynchronous satellites have been around. It occurs because the sun lines up directly behind the satellite and drowns out the signal. The outage moves from west to east for a given satellite and takes about 25 min to go from one side of the US to the other.""

Supposedly this period lasts until around October 15th

Yeah, I saw that. I really think it's the Fox station, they have never even had good quality SD, so I was really surprised to see they added an HD channel, but not surprised it only works half assed.

Hello again,
The better half and I are moving into a new place in Grant Parish, and we are very excited about the move.
We are trying to decide b/w Dish and DTV. I will be taking a temporary assignment in Birmingham Al. later this year and will be taking my receiver with me. Which service is the easiest to change to a new location?
Both should be easy to move. If you have to have more NFL Football DirectTV has a football package(Not cheap). Other then that I suggest you look at their HD lineup and see which one you like.

Thanks lolowar,
I made calls yesterday and Direct wants my biz the most, best deal so far. I'll give them an order after we close on the property.

We've lived in Hammond since a week after katrina and adopted the Saints, but I'm from the Kansas City area so watching that game was diffcult.
It was like watching the hated step sister go over a cliff in my new BMW.

We may close this week on the property. At that time I will bring up the bedroom Sony to see if the outdoor antenna works.

CBS SEC football in HD is looking real good today. To bad LSU is not. I hope they find a way to start scoring and turn this game around

I didn't get to see the game or anything else, Charter in it's infinite wisdom, decided that the day I selected to disconnect was too close to Thanksgiving and pulled the plug on sat. I'm catching up on my CD and radio listening.

Do you mean to say life goes on without TV?

Yes, but painfully with periods of light-headedness.
We got the truck loaded and moved in on the 27th. The small set is connect to an outside antenna. This is the first time I've messed with an antenna since the late 50's. 5 and 25 are the clearest pix, I think it's pointed at Monroe as the short cross bars are pointing north. There's a snowy CBS station on 8, but I can't tell from where it's coming. ABC is on 3, 11 and 31. 31 looks the best.
Sounds like you're between Alexandria, Shreveport, and Monroe.

8 is KNOE from Monroe.

3 is KTBS from Shreveport.
11 is KAQY from Monroe.
31 is KLAX from Alexandria.

Thanks Trip, you are right , I'm 8 miles south of Colfax. I did a rescan and found a snowy Fox on 14, and a snowy CW on 41, no Fox 48, but LPB on 25 looks OK. I have a Tivax atsc box, it finds "No Signal" so I've ordered a CM 7777.
Not sure what kind of antenna you have, but a good directional antenna might be necessary. If you get 5 and 25 pretty well now, this is a good sign that you should get CBS, NBC, and PBS from Alexandria alright if you fine-tuned the position of the box. Try manually tuning 35-1 and 26-1 and see if the box will find them (while playing with the antenna's positioning, if you're interested in that).

That you get Fox on 14 means you might also receive the networks (other than NBC) from Monroe as well with the proper antenna. Note that ABC and PBS from Monroe are both at very low power currently, and that those in addition to CBS will be on VHF when all is said and done (CBS is digital on 7 right now). The Fox digital is on UHF and at 1000 kW so you should be alright if you can see their analog.

CW is currently analog-only, so don't expect anything digitally there til the transition.

I put Boyce LA into TV Fool, not knowing exactly where you are, and it looks like KALB (NBC and CBS), KLPA (PBS), and KARD (Fox) should be pretty easy catches, with KLAX (ABC) and KNOE (CBS) being more difficult but doable with the proper antenna. Would you mind posting a TV Fool plot for your new location? Even if you decide you don't need the help, I'd be curious to see what it predicts your reception to be like versus what you actually see.

Thanks again Trip. If you plug in 258 Sparrow Rd. Colfax 71417, you will be very close to my location.
I dug out the Tivax and did an auto scan. It found PBS 25-1,-3,-5. It also found NBC 5-1 and CBS 5-2 also ABC 31-1, but no FOX. NBC and CBS work the best. the PBS and ABC have multi-path issues and may be viewable with fewer drop outs this evening.
I'm sure the CM 7777 will help.
Try putting in 36-1 or 36-3 on your receiver and see if it reports any signal. That's where Fox is.

When is KLAX going to freaking HD? I detest watching the marque Saturday night football on their crappy SD quality channel. The Florida - Florida St. game this weekend was the worst quality I've seen yet on channel 3. Can't believe WNTZ beat them to HD...
KLAX is not going to spend any money. I wouldn't expect HD from them anytime soon. I think the law just requires them to go digital in Feb. 09. So as far as they are concerned they are doing all they need to do.

I don't know where you live, but I live in Pineville and with an antenna and preamp, I am able to pick up KATC in Lafayette. Their HD is very good. I get them solid day and night.
