Does KLAX ever plan to go HD????

KLAX has been up for sale for a while. I wouldn't expect many, if any, upgrades from them until they're sold.

I'm still waiting for Dish to add the Alexandria locals in HD. I wrote some comments about how I like Dish better than Direct on the Lafayette forum and the $5.oo rate increase.

On 3/17/11 KNOE 8.1 Monroe debuted their news in HD.
About the same time KALB finished construction on their #2 HD ready studio. Other construction including production facilities are ongoing.

I'm a DX'er from downstate AR, and logged KLAX in DTV mode for the first time (I could pick them up in the old analog days during tropo ducting). Anyhow, they were stretching network programming, the syndicated Nate Burkus show, and even that public service piece that airs near the top of the hour (after GMA) when most stations broadcast local news breaks.

I can understand a station not having the HD equipment, but this stretchovision is horrible and a disservice to HDTV viewers as well as cable viewers in analog. Although some converter boxes and TV's can correct this self-inflicted issue, there is no excuse for this period.

The excuse is that the station is for sale, has been for sale for a while, and the owner plans to put no money into it. The new owner will have to deal with it, if it's ever sold.

EDIT: And yes, I know the excuse isn't a good one, just saying that's what the excuse is.

Just had Directv install new receiver at my home, the tech was from Baton Rouge and he told me that in a meeting last week they were told that a lot of techs would be sent to Alexandria in September because Directv was adding local stations. He did not know if they would be HD locals or not.

KBCA-CW now in HD on Suddenlink channel 725. I don't watch any shows on CW but my wife and daughter do, so I will have to post about quality later.
