KNVN is now in the lead. I wonder how much longer before the rest upgrade? Most excellent KNVN!

Yeah, I was flipping through the channels and noticed Oprah in HD, and thought it was something that bodes well for the future. Good to know Wheel and Jeopardy! are also in HD. Hopefully, other HD-produced syndicated shows on KNVN, such as Ellen and Regis & Kelly, as well as shows on KHSL, will also be in HD soon.

This is a big step for them, but I wonder how long before they actually start broadcasting their local evening news in HD, as the rest of our neighboring markets have already been doing for some time?

I'd hate to be a pessimist, but I have a feeling we're nowhere close to seeing any of the local stations broadcasting their news in HD.

For those of you that don't want to waste their time watching the 49er/Raider game in KCVU's horrible SD version, it will be rebroadcast in HD tomorrow night at 8:00PM on the NFL network....I'm going to wait, the SD broadcast is completely unwatchable.

Wildbill, is it in "squishovision" again this year?

Good one AKAWalrus,

For us that have HD, the SD studio equipment (Minus graphics) is the worst. I think my Droid movie camera feature will provied a sharper video image than that expensive SD studio equipment they use. I hope that we will see HD news sometime soon but I'm not holding my breath If they are going to HD at very least 480p for news would be better than what we have to try and watch now.

There might be a pretty big expense in getting HD equipment for the News. Also, just imagine how much it will cost for that HD makup they will need

Looks like KNVN also shows Ellen in HD.

Other HD-produced shows on the channel, like Regis & Kelly, Rachael Ray and the second half of Today (since it's on a one-hour time delay) are still in SD.

It's not much, but it's a really good start.

Saw the "Wheel" in HD last night. Vana still looks good.

True...I know our locals are not financially well off so I'm not expecting big changes like that anytime soon...especially the makeup

"football Night in America" is being broadcast in SD. I hope the switch to HD before the game starts.

I was watching it in my garage on my SD TV while working on my wife's car. Did it ever change?

It went HD about eight minutes into the broadcast.

By a show of hands, who has KRCR tonight on 7-1 using the AM21 through the HR21?

I didn't have it last night. It was on this morning and off when I got home from work. Is it me?? Doubt it since KRCR is the most unreliable signal I have at my place. The other two networks seems very stable, with exception to a program not being in HD when supposed to be.

While the previous comments have discussed which programs are or are not in HD, I wonder when ET (ABC) will see HD here. the program itself advertises it's broadcast in HD, I don't understand why KRCR isn't sending it to our homes in HD. Just as they would any other broadcast. The only reason I want it in HD is because they advertise. I personally can't stand the program.

Thanks for the feedback about KRCR on tonights broadcast. I'm hoping it's back by 10, I'd like to see the new Detroit cop program.

Looks OK on an HR-20's OTA tuner at 9:30pm, some sort of dance competition in HD. I mainly wanted to address the other part of your post; it's really a money issue with all of our locals, and in some cases, the training (or lack therof) of the staff at the stations. Our market is out in the boonies and anything "high tech" is not a budgetary or technical priority.

Bummer, I'm not picking it up again. I have 7-2 perfectly though. Yes, it's Dancing with the Stars that is on tonight.

It appears 7-2 is also in HD? The quality isn't as good, but it is full screen and not stretched. I don't know, maybe it is. The ABC circle isn't perfectly round but it's not an egg either.

I have an HR20 and an HR22 with an AM21. The HR20 has worked well with 7-1 for quite a while now. I checked the AM21 system this morning and, just like your system, 7-2 was comming in but 7-1 was not. I reset and then resynced the OTA on the AM21 (two step process) and now all channels are comming in good and strong.

7-1 is back on this morning, just as it was yesterday morning. GMA is in HD.

I wanted to reset or scan last night but the DVR was busy. Since I had other channels available I just waited it out.

KRCR will be switching over to the new antenna by this Tuesday afternoon.
Only the main channel 7 broadcast pattern will be changed. The channel 34 translator will continue broadcasting without loss for the change over. There are many Redding area viewers who watch us with indoor antnnas on DircTV boxes. Please let us know if there are any changes in receiving KRCR on channel 7 after Tuesday. It would be nice to hear from viewers in the Chico, Shingletown, Alturas, Yreka and Weaverville areas.

I use DirecTV's AM-21 with an antenna. Will those of us who use this system need to do anything, rescan for channels or should it be seamless once it's back up and running.

Thanks or the head's up.

Pardon my ignorance, but why can KNVN show certain HD syndicated shows in high definition, but not others? I suspect it has something to do with satellite feeds vs. tape delay (which would explain why the last two hours of Today are in SD). But surely, there's a "live" satellite feed of Regis & Kelly fed to stations across the west coast at 9 am PDT.

For that matter, why no HD syndicated shows on KHSL yet?

KRCR is now on the new antenna. 7.1 and 7.2 on channel 7.
Please compare your VHF reception.
DirecTV indicates the they have good signal level at their Chico receive site.

I'm not getting anything on 7 or 34.

Still nothing. FWIW, 9-1 comes in here at 90%.
Have you tried rescanning?
That you lost both 34 and 7 sounds like a local setup issue at your location.

Ray,
I checked my signals last night and this morning. Using the same antenna with TSReader I used to get a solid 27000. Now I'm getting the between 26785 and 27000, With all my Dish Network receivers, the signal has dropped from 92 to 82.

UPDATE:
I ran the reader for 30 minutes and saw that there were some CRC errors; 14 PSIP - 27.5k sections, 4 EIT 14.1k sections, and maybe from my end, 1575 continuity errors and 427 TEI errors.

For UHF channel 34 I ran the reader for 30 minuets. Here are the results for comparison:
CRC errors;, 2 ETT - 10.5k sections, 6 PSIP - 27.1k sections, 6 EIT - 13.9k sections. 1546 continuity errors and 0 TEI errors. UHF signal ranges from 23500 - 27000 (fast fluctuation).

Its not a rescan issue, although I'm sure you would like to believe that. I have never been able to get 34 reliably at my location. Last night 7-1 was comming in at 30% on my HR20, not strong enough to watch anything. Before yesterday 7-1 came in at 80% and 9-1 at 90%. Now 7-1 doesn't come in during the day and 30% at night. 9-1 is still at 90%

I had 7.1 and 7.2 at lunch time yesterday. I also had 7.2/7.2 during the evening hours. I wasn't watching directly, but when I flipped it on to check there was a signal.

I'm using an outdoor antenna connected to the DirecTV AM-21. I did not do a rescan or anything, I simply turned on the set and I had a picture.

All is well this morning also.
7-1 is not comming in again this morning. I tried a scan on the Mits tunner and it did pick up 34 but nothing on 7. The AM-21 this morning has a signal strength of 38%, not a reliable signal. Before yesterday the signal was 95% on the AM-21.
