IT IS TRUE.
It sure would be nice to have of our local channels in HD and maybe a few network channels like TNT, FX, NFL Network and so on.
Would be sweet to have KHSL. Hope the KNVN problems dont derail the Olympics. Maybe Comcast will just feed us KCRA or something if they dont get it up in time.

I just checked again with my Sisters TV and KRCR isn't getting a signal on 7.1 anymore. Too bad, I was hoping for Lost in HD this week. Since I'm in Paradise OTA doesn't really work too well, too many obstructions. Besides bought a 'HD Ready' set so untill I get a HD Tivo or ATSC tuner, Comcast is my only hope
post #95 of 2606
KRCR was only for the SB, but according to Comcast CSR it's in the works.
What problems are you having with KNVN? it seems to be working great here in Oroville
post #96 of 2606
Main problem with KNVN for me is it's not showing on the guide at 904 , but I was refering to blastoff's comment about the PSIP he was talking about.
yeah, and maybe they get the psip thing worked out my channel info show the title of the program I am watch instead of tandberg service, event39.

How about audio? Fox shows up as 5.1 Dolby Digital but NBC and ABC both are only coming through as 2 channel Dolby Digital. I don't know all the terms too well, but basically what i'm saying is Fox registers Dolby Digital on my display and lights up all the speakers and the other two register Dolby Digital, but only show the left and right speakers. I have the same issue with ESPN through Dish, but all others through Dish show all speakers.
Can only comment on Fox but ya it's in 5.1 for most of the prime time shows.

One thing that's getting on my nerves. 904 is on my guide in the bedroom on my non HD stb but missing from my HD box in the same house...

Fox is Dolby Digital 5.1, where NBC is Dolby Digital 2ch, so set your receiver to Dolby Digital Pro Logic and you will have sound through all speakers.
And not all program on FOX is 5.1 same for ESPN & ABC

Ok, so there's nothing I'm doing "wrong" that's just what they're broadcasting in? So watching football on ABC and it says broadcasting in HD with Dolby Digital 5.1 the local station is limiting it because they aren't broadcasting 5.1? I normally do choose PLII when it's 2ch, I just wasn't sure why I never get 5.1 on ESPN or ABC, and now NBC.

Is this gonna be another huge hurdle like getting HD up here in the first place was?

Where did you get this info? I've never had anyone at the stations get back to me via email or phone.

I'm surprised they never say anything about it on their morning news. With all the other "small town" kind of stories they have, you'd think they would.

I got the information from the project manager at KHSL. Also the same morning, it was aired on one of our local radio stations talk host broadcasts. Also, just to note, I would not post the information if it wasn't true and verifiable.
Oh, I wasn't trying to say it's not accurate. I was just wondering how you managed to get info from someone. That's great news. Thanks.
That is great news.
Does anyone know if Comcast is going to come out with bi-directional Cable cards?
I was told the same information today at the Comcast office in Chico: That the KNVN engineer that was at their office working on the hookup to KNVN HD told the Comcast staff that KHSL was coming to HD shortly (a matter of weeks). The CSR also reconfirmed that KRCR is only a couple of weeks out from coming back to stay. She did not have any information about us getting a UHD feed for the Olympics though like Sac and the Bay Area are getting.

My Dish guide is showing KNVN back at 024-01 with the correct listings and everything. Just wanted to let everyone know it seems to be working correctly now.

My DVR's now works with KNVN at 24-01 and shows, "KNVN". Strangely though, the Panasonic ATSC tuner maps to 24-1 but displays, "Channel." I have a feeling that they are almost there with it operating correctly.

I called Comcast about KNVN showing up on my non HD guide on 904 but missing from my HD STB's. The 800 wasn't any help. She basicly said I shouldn't get KNVN in HD so their wasn't a problem with my HD STB but didn't know why it's on the guide on the standard STBs. Pretty frustrating. I'll probably have to go to the Chico office if it doesn't pop up before friday.

Anyways, I was told by the same CSR that didn't know much about the locals here that INHD2 920 will be pre-empted all weekend by the Olympic feed. Not sure which feed it will be but UHD would be nice. She did say INHD2 comes back up on monday though.
I received a message on the STB saying that INHD2 will be covering the olympics, they didn't say which feed it will be.
I had the message on my Comcast STB this morning that we will get expanded Olympics HD coverage on channel 920 (INHD2) starting today. Nothing showed up in the guide though. The fact that they are doing the temporary replacement of INHD2 with Universal HD instead of adding the new channel doesn't speak well for the available bandwith and the prospect for adding new HD channels. At least not until they move some channels off of analog to digital. They could start with channels 95 and 96 IMO.
Well KNVN HD just popped up on my guide.
Regarding KNVN HD channel, since yesterday evening, I have been noticing lots of signal loss about every 30 to 60 seconds. The signal loss lasts a fraction of a second but it takes the receivers a couple of seconds to recuperate.

There alot of channels that Comcast could remove, we don't need 2 NFL channels 180 and 417, OLN and 2 ESPN
post #115 of 2606
I just check the guide and see that INHD2 is now UHD, i wonder if this change is only temp. for the olympics

02-10-06 update - No Dolby 5.1 on KNVN yet. Coming very soon.

KNVN is going to install and begin broadcasting Dolby 5.1 tomorrow. The Project Manager for the KNVN HD conversion project desires feedback for problems experienced. The requested time for feedback is tomorrow 02-10-06 during the afternoon. If anyone is interested, will be home in the afternoon, is available to check the functionality of Dolby 5.1, and is willing to report the problems, please let me know and I'll PM contact information to you.

Thanks

Does anyone know when or if KNVN wake-up and evening news going HD?

update 2-10-06: Apparently the "Today Show" in the morning is broadcasted in HD WS, except via KNVN, who is controlling the HD feed? KNVN or Comcast?
Comcast.net is showing KHSL-DT ch912 on the guide http://tvlistings4.zap2it.com/comcas...ner_id=comcast
So do this mean it is coming very soon?
