Not sure about the dishes.

We get it OTA with an antenna on top of our entertainment unit. We've had pretty good luck with it. The signal is weak but it only craps out occassionaly.

Thanks guys... I do have a good attic antenna but discovered Channel 5 transmission towards the SW is restricted to prevent conflict with something out of the Lawton area. Those of us in the SW part of the city are just hosed for OTA ABC. I had hoped someone had found 5 on cable.... alas not to be I guess.

I live in SW OKC and get channel 5 just fine with an attic antenna. It cuts out on occasion when it is cloudy but works perfectly 98% of the time.

I live on 134th and Penn if that helps.

I'm off 119 between Penn and May. My attic antenna is an unknown. Appears to be a fairly good one but it sure doesn't get ABC HD. It barely gets ABC SD which isn't watchable.

Do you know what antenna you have? I may give it a try.

Thanks,

We get NBC-HD on 704, No ABC-HD, CBS-HD on 709, and PBS-HD on 713 plus a number of other HD channels, all in the 700's. Cox's cable has all HD feed's in the 700's on our lineup. We do receive a number of OTA HD channels but have not been able to get channel 5 ABC-HD from anywhere.

Do I understand correctly, some of you guys in the OKC area actually get a channel 5 ABC-HD channel?

How, from where? I'd love to find this one.

I live in SW OKC (S of 89th, between Penn and May). I only use an indoor antenna (Terk UHF/VHF) and it must be pointed exactly in the correct direction (by trial and error after looking up the coordinates of the broadcast tower). Shifting the direction by as little as one or two degrees in either direction will cause the signal strength to drop too low to receive. KOCO HD is VHF, whereas most of the other local HD broadcasters are UHF.

Good Luck.

So if I turn up the amplifier on my antenna KOCO might come in stronger?

I have some Channel Master antenna that I got at Best Buy.

that antenna is useless 4 me (14 miles from the tower farm) ... all channels had snow no matter what.

I'm guessing peeps here know Petra (Edmond) is much cheaper than the big box stores in OKC...

Anyone have any information about AT&T rolling out their U-Verse in the Norman/OK City area? About 3 weeks ago a contractor buried fiber in my backyard and all up and down the streets in my neighborhood. The contractor claimed it was for AT&T. I called Cox and they said it wasn't them. Haven't heard anything since.

Should be mapped to 5 and 25.
According to DBSTalk.com, OKC HD locals are up or will soon be on E* as well. The urge to get rid of Cox and switch to E* is getting greater everyday.
Sorry, correction.. looks like they are uplinked but not up on anyones service as of yet.

I've been reading posts here for a while but just joined today so I can post.

I live in Edmond, about 3 or 4 miles from the antenna farm. Just bought an HDTV tuner to get me by with my old analog TV until I can afford a new one. I have a VHF/UHF antenna in the attic. I'm able to get all local OTA channels except 34(33) - which I haven't watched anyway since it went WB.

My question is actually about PBS (OETA). Sometimes I get 4 feeds from them, and sometimes only 2. Their guide on the web shows programs on all 4 even at times when I only receive 2. Is this maybe a bandwidth issue on their end, or is something possibly wrong with my tuner?

I've emailed them, but thought I'd post here while I'm waiting for a response...

They drop 2 of their 480i channels on the infrequent occassions when they actually show 1080i hd content on the main channel.

Hmmm.... I first noticed this @ 4:30pm one day when my kids wanted to watch a show. The 'main' channel (OETA DT) was the one that was missing, and there were no 1080i shows on the other channels. So far this has happened every day this week. I'll try to get some more details & post...

Earlier today I was stumbling around trying to get KOCO to come in and I noticed that the main OETA channel as well as the "OKLA" channel were the only ones available. Some BBQ-U cooking show was on..

You may have to rescan or try entering the actual digital channel number and not the map down channel number. Some tuners do not handle the transition very well when the subchannels are turned off. My sony hd dvr moves OETAkids from 11.4 to 11.2 when they are actually broadcasting hd on 11.1 in Tulsa and leaves 11.3 and 11.4 blank. My older hughes HTL receiver will show 11.1 correctly and then show oetakids on 11.2 11.3 and11.4 in addition it also adds 38.5 and 38.6 to the channel lineup because OETA digital is really channel 38 in Tulsa and it sees the remapping and thinks 2 channels have been added to the original 4.

Looks like from Kerronis post it's not just me. Apparently they are dropping a couple of subchannels for some reason in the afternoon. My tuner is a Samsung & it apparently moves everything down when subchannels are missing. The other subs then disappear...

Thanks for the info.

does anybody that does not have a stb, that uses QAM cable in OKC area still get the dedicated weather channel from KFOR?

I used to get it on like 254, before they remapped the channels now I cant find it, unless I am not looking good enough? It would be nice to flip to that channel to see the weather this week since it has been pretty bad
post #266 of 1038
I'm pretty sure it's still there but it's a funky number (XXX.XXX I think) that I can't remember. Will look tonight.

i'm also thinking about jumping ship from cox. which one do you think is better, Dish or DirecTV?
Well if you need local channels from a sat company then its DirecTv. If you want the most HD channels right now then it's Dish.
