Does anybody have any idea what programming, if any, will be on KTLM 40.2? It's been color bars since they switched to digital.
Does anyone know what happened to the science channel it was on 112.3 but now its gone?
looks like it went the way of 105-5, which used to be CNBC WORLD.......

did they move it ? or is it gone............

are they systematically compressing them ?

why do we get any at all ?

because, they're obligated to leave certain ones in the clear [unscrambled].

but this is not one of those.

oh well......

KRGV-DT is the 4th and final local HD to sign on with Dish Network.

Crazy thought, couldn't KNVO/XHRIO use PSIP to remap XHRIO's digital signal and display as 2.1 instead of 48.3? Equally they could change KSFE from 48.4 to 21.1 (to match their on air branding as opposed to their actual LP channel number). Sure it may seem trivial, but I just thought if you are gonna make another broadcast station a subchannel and you are already using PSIP, might as well go all the way and make the channels appear as if they are their own channel entirely. Think about it, stations like XHRIO and KSFE are only subchannels because they don't have their own digital signal or are low powered stations. The subchannel IS their digital feed. I say do it.

According to the always reliable wikipedia (ha) it's been done before. KENS in San Antonio was broadcasting as one of KWEX's subchannels after their original RF channel 55 was taken off the UHF band. No one really noticed because although it was now a subchannel of another station on RF channel 39, it was still mapped to its PSIP virtual channel of 5.1 instead of appearing as KWEX 41.2. After the transition KWEX returned to its analog channel of 41 and KENS remained on 39 and once again became the sole station on the frequency instead of a subchannel. Because this info was gathered on wikipedia, who but the KENS and KWEX engineers know for sure if that's really true?

That is why I ask if it really can be done and if it can, suggest it be done.

Any thoughts or opinions?

Some tuners don't handle it properly, so it's risky to split map like that. I know I have at least one tuner that simply refuses to decode split mapped signals. There were lots of reports of tuners getting confused about which subchannel got which guide data in San Antonio.

It's absolutely supported by the standard, but that doesn't mean that every receiver conforms to the standard. Newer receivers are better than older ones.

And the FCC forbids mapping to channels to which you hold no legitimate claim. Mapping 48-3 to 2-1 might work (not sure how the rules impact non-US TV stations), but if there's no low-powered analog that they own or control on channel 21, they are not allowed to map to 21-1.

Hey all I found this forum by chance, so good to google things. I live in Matamoros and get my US programing over the air, and got some Q hope some one can answers them so here I go:

What is it whit all the channels that are black, there is a signal just not a picture or sound (4.2, 4.3, 38.4)?

Does any one know if KTML (Telemundo) will moved there antenna to a more central location like the rest of the valley stations or get a more powerful transmitter antenna so we all down here in Matamoros and Brownsville can get a good signal?

Any other signal that might be available for us over the air be side Estrella which will be up on the 15th of this month?

Thanks to all and have a good day.

4.2 is supposed to be a 24 hour weather channel but sometimes it'll be black if they are having problems at the station. According to all guide listings, 4.3 is supposed to be a digital SD simulcast of KGBT but it has been a blank channel for years. 38.4 is similarly just a random extra channel.

Time Warner has very bad service, some channels look very bright and there is alot of pixelation. Some days channels work the next day they are gone.Does any one know why some channels show up very bright and others look dark,I hate how the back ground looks washed out, because it's too bright(white)?

Where did Versus channel go?I lost it and can't find it.
versus used to be 120-7

now....... gone

another one bites the dust.

has anyone scanned lately ?????????????
I lost a few channels too,I lost one of my favorites in HD 116-2
post #348 of 646
I think they are going to be removing most of the channels an only leave the local channels like KRGV, KGBT, etc. TWC will probably make you get the digital cable box if want to get all the digital channels they offer
post #349 of 646
I had Speed Channel on 104-9 it is now gone. Does anyone know where it moved to?

Thanks

The game is on and appears to be in digital widescreen for the first time ever on KRGV. PQ looks terrible and this game in widescreen should NOT be at all mistaken for HD, but it's a step in the right direction for KRGV.

Edit: upon further review, I'm starting to wonder if the picture is stretched because the scoring banner is stretched out but other graphics are 4:3 safe.

I discovered that Time Warner recently added 27 HD channels to the Corpus Christi market, and the RGV will have the same channels added by mid November.

The link below has a list. Also, those of you QAM tuners will not have to rescan. The channels will automatically pick up. Time Warner will be annoucing the added channels through our local media market.

Nice find.

If it is true that Qam tuners will pick up the new HD versions of the stations, it must mean that the HD versions are replacing the SD versions. If that's true I have no complaints. Makes life easier.

Can't wait...
