I have a hr10-250 and I had to scan for ota channels 3 times this morning before it finally added 45-1 to the channel guide, even though I was getting a steady 95 signal strength reading. If you are getting a strong enough signal try scanning a couple of more times and maybe you will have the same luck. Still don't have any program info in my guide for 45-1, does anybody? I just noticed you said you haven't tried today. 45-1 just came on this morning so you cuoldn't have added it until today/

Based upon what I found W22BS is out of Tupelo and owned by WTVA.
Any ideas?

Anyone getting the program guide for 45-1 to show up through Directv? All mine shows is "Regular Schedule" I get the program guide for 4-1,4-2,4-3 and for 27-1. (I also get it for 9-1, but from what I've read this channel isn't broadcasting in HD yet, at least not powerful enough to reach here in S. Starkville).

Same here, I also notice on my end that WLOV is not as strong today. WKDH and WCBI seen to be around 80 - 90% with WLOV topping out at 60. WKDH audio seems to be really low compared to the rest of the channels. I also caught some kind of weird test patterns on WKDH yesterday. Some guy's hairy arm, left/right audio test, and a multi pattern display adjustment with various "funny" text and a smiley face. I tivo'd them for a little self review later.

I have noticed to that with WLOV they seem to like cutting the last few minutes of a show off or at least downgrading the quality. I was watching "Trading Spouses" and it was of course SD, but really good SD (blew D* away), and in the last few minutes the quality dropped to that of what D* has on the Spot beam local i.e. shite. I will gladly take the gray bars for that quality jump. Can anyone explain that.

On the subject of signal level, I have opposite levels. WKDH is at 70%, WLOV is at 87%. That is through my Hitachi TV. The rain may be a factor in this. I get different signal levels through my Dish vip622. The 622 has levels in the 90's on both channels and also pixelates on 45.1 and 27.1, wheras when I run the antenna straight to the tv, the video and audio are normal. I guess I will have to call a tech on this one.

This may be of interest to any HR10-250 users, I read on the Tivo community forum that the Hr10-250 has a picky OTA tuner. This is probably not new info to many. That said, there is a thread over there outling a tweak to "enhance" reception.

With my Radioshack powered antenna I get all 3 local that are HD with around 70 - 90% strength, regardless of what gain I set or where I place the antenna. If I go into the signal meter on my Tivo I always see one tuner with higher signal than the other or one locked on to whatever strength and the other bouncing. I thought maybe I was in a bad area getting multipath.

Back to the fix, under the hood of your HR10-250 are 2 coax lines to the OTA tuner from the splitter. It may be worth getting it topless to check the connections. I found mine to be loose on one connection. A quick re-connect and my signal levels fluctuate equally now. There is also mention in the thread of replacing the coax in the unit with RG6 grade to further enhance the reception. Hope it helps, it seems to help me.

Unless they did something today, I have no clue. I have been getting them at or around 80-90%. I even forced myself to watch Supernanny and What About Brian last night on WKDH to look for glitches and what not. My scheduled recordings on WCBI were flawless as was 24 from WLOV.

You won't, because the news will still be in SD 480i, upconverted to HD, which means a slight decrease in quality (square pixels effect).

WTVA's newscasts, much like any of its syndicated (non-network) content, will remain SD...and will suffer quality-wise as a result.

I just received the HR20-700 and am scheduled to have the 5 LNB dish installed tomorrow.....both for free from DTV. The DTV rep claims that I will definitely be able to receive CBS and FOX with this new dish/receiver combo. After everything I've read, I doubt this will work, as everything says I need an OTA to receive any locals in HD in the Tupelo area.

Thanks for your comments!

You will for sure get SD locals from D*. When they go Mpeg4 that reciever will ready for them.

OK folks...I'm a newbie so take it easy on me. I think I have read most of this thread, but looking for advice.

Just got new a 1080p DLP TV and the DTV HD-DVR-700...I think it is the HR20-700. Obviously, I want to try and get the broadcast stations...

I just purchased an over-the-air antenna for indoor use...

Can you guys coach me on what I need to do to get the locals in HD? ...and are you confirming that WLOV and WCBI do transmit over the air in HD?

I live in the city limits of Tupelo.

Sorry for the new user questions, but this is the first group of local folks I have found.
You should be able to get WCBI with an indoor antenna in Tupelo. I do know that REX on North Gloster gets it that way. I am unsure about WLOV and WKDH. It seems since they are full power HD, you should be able to get them.

Although to be honest, an outdoor antenna with a rotor works the best. I am able to get WCBI, WLOV, and WKDH perfectly. I also get WMAE and WFIQ from Florence, AL.

High-def on the WTVA news would only reveal the rebar support frame that keeps Dick Rice prone. You would also be able see the three caged kittens wired to his vascular system that filter his artificial blood. Dick Rice's Depends Undergarments became self-aware on 7/22/1999.

That's harsh...funny, but harsh. With Tru-View it will all be in real time .

I am getting nothing on WLOV right now, 80 strength and no video or audio. WCBI and WKDH are spot on. The SD feed for WLOV on D* is up. I hope WKDH keeps up the good work, I need my fix for Lost.
I have a feeling that WTVA/WKDH/WLOV run video feeds directly from their master control to D* and E*. WCBI's D* feed is obviously picked up OTA and sent to D*. That explains why you see static on WCBI's SD feed most of the time. WKDH's SD feed is no longer available over the air, but is seen on D* and E*.

This would be easy for them because the feeds for all these stations plus WCBI are sent to D* from the WTVA studios on Beech Springs Road.

WlOV........87% and dead air!
WLOV...80% dead air, too.
WLOV...98% and dead air, three.

Any of you all have the HR20 "advanced HD DVR" from D*? I am getting the runaround from D* on swapping my HR10-250. I have emails backing up their claim of a free swap, and several CSRs say I will get it free, but when I call to get it no one knows anything. I have ridden the D* CSR train before and this is ridiculous.

From the posts i've read on dbstalk and satellite guys you will have to ride this train once again. You pretty much have to keep calling to you get the right person.
You can also try calling and ask for retention. This has worked for some.
P.S. Here is a link to one of the threads.

I was just curious, I guess I will fasten my seatbelt for a trip through the CSR FunHouse of Death . I understand if it's "not available in my area" but there are too many people who have them all over the place.

BTW did WLOV come back? It was still dead when I left for work this morning.
