This whole HD/SD color matrix thing has me asking the question why doesn't the NS97 send the upconverted signal with the HD color matrix instead of the SD color matrix? Isn't that the point of an upconverting player? To upconvert the signal as close to "HD" as possible? If an HD signal is supposed to have an HD Color matrix why wouldn't the Sony do this if it is supposed to be an upconverting player?
Again, this might not be a "deal breaker" for people. It's not as if the colors are *grossly* compromised -- pinks turned to purple, red turned to orange, for example. It isn't a deal breaker for me. It can be compensated for a bit (as described with the color/tint) with "real life" material and may be totally satisfactory.
The weekend is approaching and this thread needs a lot of work -- especially pictures. I'll try and capture what I'm seeing this weekend a put pictures in the first thread.
